UCLA has recruited well, but they lost 6 underclassmen to the NFL in addition to some graduates last year.

They lost 3 OL and all but 1 WR/TE. I think this is going to make it really difficult for the new offense and new offensive coordinator. It is going to extremely hot and noisy at Kyle Field. They will turn to the running game, but Paul Perkins (1343 yds and 15 TDs) is gone too.

They are in even worse shape than A&M on special teams, because they lost their kicker, punter, and long snapper.

A year ago, UCLA also was hit by the transfer bug. They lost Priest Willis (A&M), Devin Lucien, Jalen Ortiz, Asiantii Woulard, and Tahaan Goodman (3 were DBs).

Kyle Field has not been an advantage for us under Sumlin. If anything, since Sumlin became HC, it has been a disadvantage. Against ranked teams we are better on the road.

have to go back to 2004 for the last time we played a ranked non conference team at kyle.

True, but the Texas heat should be an advantage when we play those West Coast pussies used to moderate temperatures.

it's an important game. I think it feels like one we MUST win.

I do think we win but it will be fairly low scoring.

Conference or non-conference doesn't matter. We are not good against good teams at home.

Have you ever had to pull against the Bruins before? Is it going to feel weird?

FWIW, 247 reporting one of their linebackers is out for the game and possibly a DE and FB as well.

Stupid hippies. It was gonna be an A&M win before. Now Keith Ford and Trevor Knight will both have career bests. 42-10ish. And if I'm wrong... well, that has happened before.

Need to just put Koda Martin on that side as the inline TE and let Knight and the RBs go to work.

The UCLA defensive line reminds me a little bit of us 2 years ago. People point out that they have a new offense, but forget to mention that UCLA is moving from the 3-4 to 4-3. They have a defensive tackle that started out as a DE and some DEs that played OLB. It could be rough for them early on if they don't get exceptional linebacker play.

*Listened to interview were Kenny Young talks about lying to A&M coaches about his commitment. Hope they have a special package of "crackback" blocks for him.

For reference, Arizona State's hype last year was much more justifiable than UCLA's this year. ASU returned more offensive production, more starters, was better in both offensive and defensive efficiency the prior year, was coming off a ten win season and their starting QB had a better rating the prior season.

UCLA might be good but advanced metrics in hindsight predict a 6-6 2015 for them, a fate they avoided only due to BYU and Utah being decimated by injuries. They were a very inefficient team especially on defense.
