A lot of people forget we were headed to the SEC when the SWC dissolved but the Texas Gov't stepped in and stopped it. Forever pissing a lot of us off.

This email, although incendiary, really isn't a big deal imo. Miscommunications are a constant in the recruiting world. But it being released reflects poorly on A&M and Chigbu will get asked about it because it will certainly get back to him and that does nothing but put a bad taste in his mouth about A&M. Just dumb.

This dammit so much this

behind a hatred of Texas' arrogance

It really is kind of astonishing. The worst part is it can rub off in a harmful way. (A while back there was a possibility of Oklahoma getting in but Boren said the wrong thing to Slive and that was that.) I really believe UT does not grasp the concept of the conference in the fraternal sense, that the whole is much bigger than any one part.

I understand being confident and proud of one's institution, but they really took it to a point where not only the fanbase believed their own rhetoric, but the actual athletic department began sipping their own koolaid, too. And that's what's caused so many problems for them in their dealings with their conference mates over the years, but especially within the past decade.

I have noticed that while there is a lot of pissing and moaning among the fanbases here they will rally around and go after any outsider that comes around talking smack.

Indeed. But it's not helping him or his image at all. Which leads me to a post in another thread I'm pulling in here.

So, is 247 getting rid of Hamm and replacing him?

I don't like Hamm for what he did, but most agree that their rankings are the best

Hamm owns the gigem247 site. He's not going anywhere. And 247's influence will continue to grow.

So while the character assassination will hurt Hamm's business, having a weak 247 site is also bad for A&M. Looch may not like it, but I bet Sumlin gets it. In the future, Gigem247 will rep A&M a lot more than TA because recruits go to 247.

Yep. TA is a message board not a recruiting service and they need to chill out and learn how to co exist or it will actually be them who are shut out in the long run.

I've noticed that, too.

It's really interesting to observe.

Like when a couple of Oregon fans/trolls from the MSB came to the Rant midway through the season and started talking shite about random SEC teams, all of a sudden posters turn on a dime and lambast the OOC posters.

Funny thing is, they were saying a lot of what the Rant posters were using to troll each other, but it didn't matter

I think a lot of this may also be cultural. The national negative stereotypes of The South have been around so long that eventually a 'everyone else can eff off' attitude developed. An attack on one member is seen as an attack on 'us'.

I just finished listening to the entire interview. It was not misleading at all and sounds exactly like any interview I've ever conducted as well. This will definitely get straightened out but I can tell you, after listening to the whole thing, there was absolutely no wrongdoing on Taylor's part. I think you guys already realize that but I just wanted to confirm it since I have now actually heard the conversation in question.- Brian Perroni

I don't like many of the recruiting "gurus" but I have to say I have the utmost respect for Brian. Him actually going to work with Hamm made me give Hamm another chance. And if he said this, I'll believe it until proven otherwise.

Maybe but I have seen some stuanch LSU Aggie haters jump in and defend us when an ooc troll starts talking us down and that is amazing when you consider that in the past the rest of our old conference would have backed the outsider. It is a great feeling knowing that while we may not like each other we will stand up for each other no matter what.

There is one Oregon poster that is pretty good (can't remember his handle) but the rest of them, with the Clemson guys and Louisville guys, can go suck a dick.

There's a few Longhorn posters that go on the general board just to put down or stir up trouble. My usual retort is 'A&M has moved on to a much greener pasture' and leave it at that. This is what's true and they full well know it.

Yep and there are a couple of very rational longhorn posters on this site.
