Welcome aboard tArk

My wife's folks moved from Charleston, S.C. to Seabrook, TX when she was a kid, so apparently good people are in the SC recruiting pipeline for the greater Houston area

Lots of good duck and goose hunting around there. Bay City is a pretty good little city. The coastal Texan is a different breed you should like em.

Oh and welcome aboard

I'm doing an apprenticeship with LPR construction. Not the greatest job, but better than anything I've had so far. It's a wonderful opportunity for me. Anything to support my daughter!

That is a pretty awesome attitude!

Your buddy, Garnet, is a great guy--I've zero doubt you're of equal quality. So far in the SEC, I've found SCAR fans to be much more hospitable and much less defensive and trashy than many of the fans from other schools.

Truth be told however the SC-A&M game shakes out this year I hope it doesn't have a similar ending to the SC-Mizzou game last season. That ignited a board war between the two fan bases that means nothing IRL. I'd hate to have that happen to the board fan bases here.

SC and A&M have a lot in common:

Both hate orange
Both have bad records vs main rival, but who gives a shite.. we're better now right?
A&M with it's military history as a school, SC as a state has a proud military tradition
You have the jizz jars we have the cocks so we're both used to the gay jokes.
etc.

I don't see it happening. I think the Mizzou fans on here were looking for a fanbase to talk shite with, we have our hands full on a daily basis as it is

I prefer it to SA actually, at least in Houston you expect to get cut off. In SA it's about 25% aggressive, 25% passive, and 50% not aware they are driving.

it's an acquired skill. Once you learn it, traveling in South America feels surprisingly safe

two primary tips for survival
1) don't signal. It shows weakness. Move into a lane and then signal that way they can't cut you off
2) go faster or slower. Faster cars have to react to slower ones so you want to be on the extremes. Being in the middle means you can't whip around a slowpoke because somebody faster may be doing the same to you. It's much easier to vary between the extremes

I was honestly a bit taken back by the 75mph speed limits. It felt like Christmas morning.

Also yeah I did notice either everyone was going over 80 or under 50. I did use my turn signal, I'll break the stick first thing tomorrow morning.

I've seen no less than four cars on fire in person in my last two years commuting from Midtown Houston on 45 and 610. That should tell you all you need to know

I was really starting to get worried about all the broken down cars on the side of the road. Felt like an omen.

Glad you made it through the tine (Houston) ok. Signaling is for pussies. I don't actually know if my car is equipped with that feature.

If you didn't grow up driving in Houston it can be a scary thing. The best way is to drive offensively because if you drive defensively you will get killed.
