and that's all she wrote. Truly disappointing season. I said before the season it was Super or bust.

With a 10th place SEC finish, 1 and done in the SEC tourney, and losing to a pretty mediocre Texas team in the Regional, I'm officially disgusted with Childress*. We'll see if the BM is soon....

*ETA: mostly because 2012 was so bitterly disappointing and he already got his rebuilding grace period last year

We really need to make a change. We have a shot at being really good next year. But I said that before this year and I feel like with RC and Sawyers we end next year in the same spot.

Yeah, I really dunno. It depends on who leaves but if Mengden comes back and pitches like last year, with him, Long, Stubb you've got what should be a nasty rotation.

And with Banks, Birk, Melton, Moroney, Taylor, probably Nau and Nottebrok, you've got the makings of a decent offense. But it seems 2011 is more the fluke than 12-14 right now.

I'm super bitter as that's probably unreasonable. He's gone to the supers/regional finals an awful lot, and you can't say at this point that's a fluke. But I just don't see him getting over the hump and he's just not very likable. So frick it, I want him out.

I would okay with just getting rid of Sawyers but he defends him to the death, so he should fall with him in IMO

Having Rob Childress as your baseball coach is like sleeping with a fat chick.

I saw that analogy on the baseball board and agree with it

I wouldn't. Sawyers is the replacement for the last offensive coach he shitcanned. At a certain point, it's not their fault. Childress re-hired him after he left and he has to own up to that. No sacrificial lambs this time.

It's not like he has a low budget. Our coaching staff is in the top 10 in the country (and like 6th in the SEC)

We also improved the facilities for him a little bit

It's especially frustrating this year seeing not just Texas rebound after two shifty arse years but TCU UH and fricking Tech all in supers. Tech hosting and has a really strong shot at Omaha. frick. There is so much baseball talent in this state we should be an elite program with our facilities and access to talent

Its time for childress to go. I don't know how much more proof we need to prove that he is not going to get this program where we want it.

That only leaves our coaching to blame.

Spin from Hyman: "We overachieved this season, making the regional final against all odds before finally falling to a very worthy opponent. Anyone who doesn't want Childress to get a raise and extension should manage expectations."

Seriously though, this is a guy who had Michael Wacha and Ross Stripling as his 1-2 pitchers and Tyler Naquin, Matt Juengel, and Jacob House at the plate and couldn't get out of his own regional.

So Childress was up at the plate contributing to the miserable 2 hit performance today?

This sounds familiar, as in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. What's the common factor in all of those?

I don't think that is accurate. When Deggs left, it was straight out of left field. He was equally as aggressive, but was more successful than Sawyers. Ultimately he left for personal and health reasons. He's back at it now, but I think he was far from shite canned.

At the end of the day, we underachieved again. I wanted at least a trip to the supers and to be in the conversation to host at the end of the regular season. Instead we snuck into the tourney & finished in the regional finals. I'm not pro or anti Rob. I just cannot see him going out like this. 8 regionals in a row and a half way strong finish. Much better teams did much worse.
