Are we in the running for any of these Baylor recruits? Seems like we have the roster space right?

I've heard no. From multiple sources it seems like the primary player for the biggest of them is UT, despite our multiple open schollies. Gotta love Sumlin. He really gets in there and gets after it.

That kinda makes sense. It seems like if kids were already resigned to playing in the Big 12 post-February then by this point they justified it to themselves.

Give it a rest. Hudson and Cobb were the only guys drawing a bunch of interest from last year's staff. Cobb is smaller than many of the current commits and targets

The new coaches could be interested, but they would be far behind. They would be essentially giving up a scholarship in this year's class because of SEC specific over-signing rules.

By my count, we have up to 31 spots for the 2017 class. Plenty of room, it comes down to interest (on both sides)

I find it pretty entertaining that some people think Sumlin isn't doing everything he can to save his arse this season.

If he was doing everything he could he would be hustling after the 4 ESPN300 recruits from this most recent signing class who have stated they want out of their LOIs with Baylor. We're getting word that every school under the sun is making overtures but that these guys don't "draw interest" from our coaches. Not even for depth, when we have 31 spots open for the 2017 class. THIRTY-ONE! It's open season on these Baylor guys (from a better signing class than ours), we have tons of room, but Sumlin can't be bothered. Typical.

Is it possible the report that's yet to come out might indicate payment to some of these players that would rule them ineligible? Or some other reason we would pass?

Obviously we don't have all the info and it's hard to believe staff is just sitting on their hands.

I'm pretty sure until they are officially released from their NLI no coaches can have contact with them, so their is no hustling for Sumlin to do yet.

There are ways. Other schools are. When UTw gets the cream of the crop and we get nothing, I'm sure y'all will be ready with more of your never-ending excuses for Sumlin. Spouting bullshite like we don't want ESPN300 recruits to fill our boucoup empty roster spots. Lol! Crying that UT is dirty because they bought that kid an F250. I'm not mad they bought him an F250; I'm mad we didn't show up with an F350 and a jet ski the day before. That's how the game is played. We need to play the game!

I don't know if A&M would be interested in a 5'10 170 lbs. running back in the SEC. They might be interested in Martin if he switched positions. People fall in love with rankings and forget that this isn't the Big 12 conference.

As much as i would like it i dont see Hudson coming to A&M. In December when he was leaning to A&M the coaches would not even return his calls. The lack of contact is why he cancelled his visits before NSD. Last week UT was contacting him while no one tied to A&M had even called. As of right now Baylor wont let him out. He has been in contact with an attorney. He doesn't want to be associated with the "rape" stigma. When pressed i got the impression it is UT if he is allowed to leave.

*edit- Hamm is full of it as well. Hudson doesnt want any communication with him.

That would be a recruiting violation and would also explain why Baylor would not want to release these kids from their NLI.

The Duvernays' are the only players that can be contacted. Rivals, Mark Passwaters, says that the new staff has reached out. Sorry that this doesn't support the A&M "lazy" staff narrative.

Par for the course with this staff, unfortunately.

We have a bunch of guys who couldn't sell water to someone dying of thirst. In large part because they'd just ignore him.

Where is this coming from? Sumlin has recuited better than any coach since RC, and is about to field he most talented A&M team since the 1990s (but maybe ever).

Some of y'all haven't been paying attention. Both those QBs leaving poisoned our recruiting well. Baylor had such an "awesome" class to begin with because to outsiders our situation is toxic. And their "best class ever" that is falling apart was barely ahead of ours.

I am not trying to be a Sumlin apologist, but two things and only two things will fix our recuiting:

1. 10 win season

2. Fire Sumlin

Heck I will even admit #2 is more likely but neither is happening soon so there is no fix that will take advantage of the situation.

At the end of the day these recruits going to Texas might not be a bad thing if it gets Charlie that extra win he needs to stay. Big picture I am more scared of TCU (who has never recuited great despite success) getting the talent and breaking their glass ceiling, or Charlie getting fired next season and they hire Herman. At some level you gotta pick your poison.
