Good point. Something tells me that Wednesday call will end up in Aggie lore though, even if we have to speculate the contents.

But I don't fault Sumlin for swinging for the fences

Me neither, and he still might be. As I have said all along it is his career on the line, not ours.

I get we're upset but sorry if I'm not going to buy into all this waterboy "oh no we suck again" crap that is going around

There is a rationale behind it.

When we gave Sumlin $5 million for mediocre results to avoid a reboot, or lost 0-59, or lost to LSU yet again, the silver lining the whole time was that our recruiting future looked bright as we ran the state. That is now over.

What do we realistically have to hope for now? A DC hire, which at best will be the second splashiest DC hire in our division, will turn the ship by himself on recruiting and defensive coaching?

The melt today isn't about one recruit, or two recruits, or the DC hire or any single thing. The melt today is because for the first time since we entered the SEC it no longer feels like we are making forward progress. This year was a setback, no other way to look at it, when our margin for setbacks was small.

In the long run it will be ok because this isn't happening in a vacuum. Overpaying Sumlin, building all this crap, getting one top 5 class- all of this will appeal to a hot coach "we shouldn't be able to get" one day.

Until that day, it will be rough sledding.

I really see only one solution here: Self-immolation

I see another solution.

We can profit from this.

I propose sending an e-mail to Sumlin claiming to be an African prince. He will apparently fall for even the lamest scam.

The worst part about this is that all of this came about because we fricked up.

Yeah, I feel like anyone who pulled a 419 scam on Sumlin would get rich as frick.

That's fair enough. His job is definitely on the line if this doesn't pan out

Somehow the rest of the board has caught up to you in melt. You aren't crazy, you're just ahead of the curve

Definitely worse than 0-59. Maybe third to Mr. A&M and 0-77.

If anyone on this board is capable of handling a day like today, it's CGSC. I Melt with You

Has tmc been in here to scold everybody yet?

your fascination and need to call me out is really odd. I don't care that people melt. I care that they melt in every thread about any topic to the point that we can't have a conversation about anything around here for days at a time.

I'm totally fine with this thread (and the others, to a point). Just keep it contained so that if we want to talk about hoops or soccer or NBA or whatever, we don't have to wade through it

Otherwise, melt to your heart's delight

that's my problem with you CGSC. I don't care that you are always dying to melt. It doesn't really bother me.

But it makes me completely uninterested in coming to this board when we lose. A rational conversation can't be had. I enjoy sports. I don't get so wrapped up that my life is miserable when things don't go my way. And I get that some do. It's where fan(aticism) came from.

But there are others that can have a rational conversation and you drown them out by spamming the board when you are upset. And that ruins the board for those people (who frankly are the overwhelming majority). And while I understand y'all get upset, I'll never understand why you feel the need to do that

Seems to be for the Rant's delight. All the major A&M haters have lurked here today like hobos around a trash fire.

Edit: tmc mini melting (i know poor words) about CGSC mega melting really was the cherry on this day. You guys are the best, this place was a much better meltsite than the mothership.

I agree about the desire for a more rational discussion on today (like I don't buy the Chavis thing), but let's do that later. You know- after the hangover.

oh I agree. I wouldn't even try today as even the most even keel are blowing up. Pointless

I was just talking more in general and in particular CGSC bringing up hoops. He's been okay so far this year on it but he's had some pretty outlandish days in the past The sad part is we agree on a great deal on that topic. I just can't take the spamming

I was doing OK until Mack decommitted.

Pointless

It is pointless really until not only has the DC been hired, but has worked a season (or at least a few SEC games). Then we know if good decisions were made or not. Problem is that is too long of a wait to melt, so we jumped the gun today.
