I don't know I feel like this "melt" is fair.

Another terrible defensive year. An offense that looked inept and schizophrenic at best. Not being able to land a dc after a few weeks. Losing out on a top recruit at a huge position of need. Having one of the lynchpins of your class decommit. The very real possibility of a legacy aggie QB looking elsewhere/playing baseball. A very good chance of a bowl game loss. And being led by a sophmore qb next year that resembles jay cutler in the pros.

this has been a perfect storm of shite, and I don't have a problem with the melt. I certainly won't judge those that are melting.

Can you give a bit more info? We had him lined up and he backed out? Sumlin isn't announcing until after the bowl?

Which!? What!?

At least at that point I could reassess my personal budget for next fall knowing I won't be spending any money on tickets

I'm purely speculating here so feel free to poke holes.

Sumlin has Foster lined up and ready to go. Nothing can be announced in order for Foster to get his $800k payday. Malik talked with Sumlin on Wednesday wanting to know who the DC was going to be. Sumlin, not knowing whether Malik was going to commit or not, felt like he couldn't tell him. After all, Malik could have committed to another school after that anyways and then let the cat out of the bag with no repercussions. Malik got pissed at this perceived lack of trust and that was that.

Plausible?

Yep, but only worth it if Foster is able to fix that bridge.

Definitely plausible, but the rumor makes it sound like he was ready to announce the dc Wednesday but it blew up for whatever reason. Your theory is assuming he still has Foster but can't say anything until after Foster gets the pay raise.

The one silver lining in all of this is that liucci is going to have a shitty holiday season dealing with the zoo.

Let me pause my melt for a sec

If we somehow land Foster (still extremely skeptical over this) and the attrition stops where it is now (very possible if we land a DC of his caliber) and we fill the Jefferson Mack and Sheffield holes with some decent 4* prospects I will back away from the ledge.

That's a ton of hypotheticals though so I'll resume melting

It really only makes sense that sumlin hasn't named a dc by now because of Foster and that damned 800k bonus. So yeah, hiring Foster and not losing anymore commits is the only way I don't go full retard.

No. Why?

Because Foster would want to have the best talent possible play for him.

I think the real answer is Sumlin can't officially talk to Foster at all, and that fricked our program:

quote:

Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock has so far declined interview requests since the end of the regular season.

I am telling you guys, this Whit Babcock guy ruined our program. He is getting some stabbing pain in his limbs this weekend!

Ultimately it is about results. Foster could single handedly turn A&M from one of the worst to respectable with the talent on hand. Even if we miss on a few big names guys I have faith that someone like him can turn us into a top 50 D easily. If that happens and A&M settles on a QB then I expect our O to get back to a high level. Top 10 O with a top 50 D will be easy 9 wins a year without breaking a sweat.

Y'all are going nuts over some damn kid going somewhere else because you THINK Sumlin screwed up. Damn let it play out and see what happens before y'all start burning effigies and shite. Best case we are set back by one year if the worst case truly happens I'll bring the torches and the diesel. Til them I'm gonna just observe and wait.

I'm not condemning anyone for melting just stating how I feel.

Actually we are up to two kids. But the effect is around four or so kids minimum.

Damn let it play out and see what happens

What does that mean? Wait another season?

What is that to you? Gibbs?

Seems to me that says that Babcock himself has declined interviews, not that he's forbidden Foster from talking.

As for what Foster says... who knows. Coaches are the LAST people you should trust when commenting about potential job switches.
