I believe you , but 10 M just doesn't seem like a number that makes sense.

That doesn't make sense. Final Review is on grass. Every Army pass-in-review I participated in was on grass.

The $10 million number is heresay from 247/Texags. No idea if that is true or not, but the extra man hours alone would cost a lot given that it looks like this will take at least a week to complete. And the reinforced surface isnt cheap, its a special synthetic polymer.

Nobody cares what that grass looks like, though.

TBH I would have pitched a fit if they did away with march-in. I'm sure a not so small faction of alumni would have made their displeasure known as well with decreased financial support in many areas.

Looks like a big mixer there. I wonder if it is a tennis court type surface. Those things come in dark green.

looking at the construction cams it looks like there are no pallets of any type of tiles or bricks. But it looks like lots of white buckets. That would make sense for some type of hard rubberized surface.

That's true, and it might be a better point if we didn't have 300 band members doing all sorts of crazy turns on the field at halftime.

Yeah the FTAB puts as much stress on the surface as the actual game play. Pretty crazy.

I will wager our suites kick any other suites asses.

Then you factor in seating in the suite. I'm pretty sure we have over 2,000 seats within our suites. They seat anywhere from 16 to 28 per.

sorry but our new suites are shotgun style which flat out suck arse for viewing a game.

it looks like you can only fit maybe 4 or 5 chairs up front forcing everyone else to sit outside if they want to watch the game on the field instead of a TV.

in the old suites you had two levels of seating which made it possible for everyone in it to see the game w/o being forced to watch on a TV.

Have I mentioned my favorite march-in story here?

They weren't that wide. It was 2 levels, yes, but it was plane arse bars with rolly chairs. Its been a few years, but I want to say they were, at max, wide enough for 6 chairs each row.

Plus sitting outside > sitting inside.

Obviously Dr RC and Farmer1906 should be inviting their AggyArk brethren to football games to enjoy their suites! Inexplicably, I haven't received an invitation. Yet.

depended on the size of the suite.

the larger ones could fit about 20 people if you didn't mind sitting on the stairs and having a couple people stand.

Plus sitting outside > sitting inside.

Except with its a day game and its 100+ degrees outside.

The alumni side will be even more dead now b/c half the people are going to stay inside and watch on TV now. Have y'all seen what happens in The Zone on shite weather days w/all the people that migrate to the indoor club? This is now going to happen on the West side as well. This will actually hurt the game day atmosphere.

The biggest problem I've always had with the shotgun design is it is essentially a trick to get people to spend more for less. It's getting people to commit to one of the smaller old suites (from a viewing perspective) that were on the ends of the West side plus a bunch of outside seats. For what they are charging it's a shite deal. IMO it would have been better to keep them wide while simply building a hell of a lot more suites on the West side and in the South endzone

This wasn't even what people who sit in suites were asking for TBH. BMAs didn't want outside/inside seating w/their suites. They wanted the ability to slide the windows open if it wasn't an oppressively hot day.

Alas, we let ours go due to my father's passing, my mother mostly living in CO and still bristling at how shitty the entire process has been handled, and me foolishly not following my father into the family biz (I just haaaaaaaad to get into independent media production) causing me to not make amount of money required to continue paying for a suite.

Otherwise, I really was considering hooking up with some of y'all for a game b/c w/the rents semi retired in Colorado they were giving away tickets for roughly half the games. If they weren't in Texas for the game it was often me, my SO, and a few teachers and students from the RPTS dept.

Update:

quote:

Chancellor John Sharp:
Coach Sumlin called Sharp and told him he wanted to practice on the field on Aug 22nd...dates were shifted to accommodate his request/demand.

Best field drain system..takes 10-12"/hr..over $1M for the drainage

One more Kyle Field media event remains

Phillip Ray
Slightly ahead of schedule and on budget; 1200 men and women work 7 days a week.

Got nervous in May about meeting deadlines, but have and will accommodate all deadlines.

New partner in Kyle Field's networking capabilities is Verizon who agreed to a 5yr/$4.3 payment into Kyle Field.. We are the network standard for the country.

AT&T is already signed on, will be able to access KF WiFi; working with Sprint and TMobile for them to join in.

Craig Kaufman (Populus)
Renderings are turning into photos..feels great as the architect

The grass is top of line for NFL and Collegiate facilities. Drainage designed for 100+ year flood, best in the business.. Field will be cleared before streets drain.

It's our stadium and we'll love it

Greg McClure (Manhattan Vaughn)
Carpets are being laid in level 200 Suites are being finished out (carpet/final lighting) before cleaning crews finish them

200-500 level Suites..last Suites to be finished, will be finished by September 5th to allow Levy's and A&M to bring in their things. Currently installing appliances, electrical, and tile.

Finishing the exterior plaza of the West Side early this year, no mad-dash rush like last year. They're finishing from the North to South and South to North..meeting in the middle.

1200 people worked about 3.5 million man-hours by the time it's all said and done.

Todd Christian (IBM)
2 Separate systems for the fans.. 1) WiFi - Will be on during the games 2) Cellular Network - Continually upgraded

TAMU the talk of the town across the country about how to improve gameday networks

Gameday Technology - An app allows users in suites to change the TV channels and allows users to view replays on their phones. It is untested, so there's likely going to be some bugs over the first 3 games over WiFi.

Look to have Spring and TMobile on soon; will join on when they're ready.

Tim Lomax (TAMU Transportation Institute)
Download the Destination Aggieland App...if you want to park on Campus, they can park you. DA app has realtime traffic updates. Kibrough and Olsen Blvd will be a nightmare.

4 Shuttle Bus routes off campus from Downtown Bryan and American Momentum Bank Plaza.

Leaving the game..Exiting will take time, but it should go smooth. Will have cameras to monitor and change traffic patterns in real-time. Command center will be in East Kyle Field.

Marty Price (Levy's Restaurants)
Introduced PJ Saidler and Chef Picau
PJ:
Hiring 1300 people to facilitate the staffing of Kyle Field.

Chef:
Showed food for the club seats..."Texas proud" food. All smoked food will be cooked in house.

Q&A Session:
Phillip Ray:
Opened by stating it was still a construction project last year. It will be complete this year. New lighting and new sound system. Distributed sound throughout the entire stadium. Will be able to traverse the entire stadium after entering.

Q: What's left?
A: Hall of Champions finishing, lounge finishing, seating instillation, parking lots, plazas, great staircase.. A lot of finish work, but it is being completed quickly. All restrooms and concessions are installed. Flagpoles starting to go up.

Q: Expected completion date:
A: September 5th..most if not all things will be finished, but the stadium will be turned over on that date without the mad dash at the end of the project. Cleared out demolish of Old Kyle early really helped streamline the process.

Q: Capacity?
A: 102,512+

Q: Can we see the finish line?
A: Sometimes..Chancellor Sharp and Coach Sumlin push the crews well. Confident the project will be finished on time and with great quality after meeting with the crews weekly and seeing them daily. Great list of sub contractors to help finish the project.

Extra comment:
Working with President Young and Chancellor Sharp are working on a "stadium celebration"..more details will be released later, but did say that Chancellor Sharp likes things that are loud, bring, and light up the sky.

Chancellor Sharp:
They've (Manhattan Vaughn) completed a 3 year project in two with a large gap in between..it's a testament to how great the workers are.
