I wonder what the OU alumni think about their new plans. May have to wander over to LandThieves and do some reading.

they haven't gotten that far. It's apparently going to be voted on in their next BOR meeting. But they haven't started fundraising or anything. Just announced the idea today.

Their stadium always seemed strange to me.

They made their stadium like we did Kyle, piece by piece with no real plan or flow to it.

I have a feeling we did Kyle that way because no one really thought A&M would grow as big as it eventually did

that's pretty much true of all the college stadiums. Very few were built with the idea of expansion in mind.

I actually like OU's stadium. It's very open. I hate that end zone though so it's good they are re-doing it. But I just have a hard time seeing how 6-8k corner endzone seats can pay for $350m+

The only way an OU expansion would make sense is for the OU-t.u. rivalry to become home-and-home. But they recently extended the contract to keep it at the Cotton Bowl.

I don't know whether Bedlam would fill up the extra seats. I know Baylor won't (they don't even bother traveling to Kyle which is a whole lot closer ).

Unless they have some really long waiting list for season tickets (like years-long) it doesn't make a lot of sense. And especially not for the same price tag as a near-total renovation of Kyle.

They claim a streak of over 90 straight sell outs, going back to around 2001.

they also have a waiting list of about 5k for season tickets. It's not absurd at all to expand. They do need a good season to build off though when you are asking for this kind of money. Their fanbase lacks enthusiasm right now.

But it doesn't really matter. It turns out this whole story (published in the local paper) was bullshite and they are just doing prelim research on it right now. Appears their local reporters are worse than ours.

*** just a side note, in glancing at LandThieves I'm amazed at how obsessed they are with us. Somehow every topic gets around to us

They know that their new west coast focused recruiting strategy wasn't something Stoops just decided to do. He was forced into it due to our success. Having to depend on players from two time zones away doesn't bode well for long term success, and they know it.
