Is it really that serious? This isn’t the political board. Man said money is tight, leave it be

Same man has also been talking about how he was going to stop giving money for at least 2 years now. Blaming the economy just sounds like his new excuse for saying why he doesn't donate now that Jimbo is gone.

I'm with RC. The hyperbole about the economy made it seem like a convenient excuse. It probably would have been ignored had he not made so many comments through the years about his donations and his salary. As with his comments about football and recruiting, he swings from one extreme to another. It just gets old.

Not a nose dive, but the housing market is stagnant, interest rates have doubled, unsecured debt per household is astronomical compared to past, and cost of consumer goods is up about 30% from where it was three years ago and oil and gas is profitable

these indicators have always been present before a recession as I understand it, I hope one doesn’t occur, but it sure looks like it’s heading that way

I thought the statement was made at Farmer, I didn’t realize the original comment was from Colorado. That’s my fault for not scrolling back up and seeing who it was. I believe the response is more justified now

This is pointless. Bidenomics is great or not. All is well or not. Stonk Market up.

The End.

Ags kicked arse this weekend. Here is the blurb from Baseball America's weekly ranking.

quote:

The Aggies had quite the weekend and outscored McNeese by a combined margin of 31-1 en route to a comfortable series sweep. They hit .351 as a team and wallopped 14 extra-base hits, including three home runs off the bat of star sophomore Jace LaViolette. The pitching staff collected 36 strikeouts, and southpaw Ryan Prager fired five shutout innings and notched a career-high nine strikeouts. It was about as good of an opening weekend that you can have as a team, and this week A&M will look to keep the momentum going against Incarnate Word and Wagner.

The team looked great this weekend

I didn't realize my last post would cause such a stir. I survived layoffs last week, so money isn't that tight. However, I lost a lot off of the last recession and am playing it safe. Maybe I will make a game, but the friend I was going to take to the game was laid off

We had solid attendance this weekend.

7,078
5,818
5,500
Total of 18,396 / 6,132 Avg

That tops the opening weekend last year and is about

I cannot wait until expand the park and we top the 5-digit # regularly.

I've been through lots of layoffs and rumors of layoffs. Those are scary times. Glad you survived! Playing it safe, especially during uncertain times, is very understandable. Good luck!

As much crap we give to Colorado, it's good that he survived layoffs. Scary times now for erryone, I suppose

It's gameday! Can't wait.

Yup, we've all been there. IDK how I've survived as long as I have in O&G with all the layoffs every 5-6 years.

Back to baseball.

We get IW this afternoon (4pm game) since there is a bball game at 6. We beat them easily last year and canceled on them the year before (RPI boost). The IW preview on the 12thman.com is very lacking. I am 90% sure Schloss said Cortez is starting. He had a fairly strong close to preseason scrimmages so hopefully he's solid. I would love to have a RHP throwing 95-98 consistently to pair with all our lefties. If he's good, just another feather in Max's cap.

Really hoping Cotez can turn the corner this year. That would be big.

Here is the TA preseason write up on him.

quote:

RHP Chris Cortez - Entering year three in Aggieland, and it's a similar story for the hard-throwing right-hander from Las Vegas. Anybody with a pair of eyeballs can tell what kind of talent Cortez possesses in that thunderbolt attached to his right shoulder. The issues that have plagued him up to this juncture in his career have been command of the heater and an inability to provide a consistent secondary offering. If he can start taking big strides to answer those questions under Weiner, he has All-SEC potential. I think we will see some changes in his pitch arsenal and selection. Cortez has spent a lot of time reworking pitch shapes that should, in theory, give him more avenues for success. Seeing is believing, and I anticipate Schlossnagle giving him some chances early in the season to see where he's at. Grabbing Cortez some confidence in the first few weeks would be ideal.

If Max can make some tweaks, he could be a weapon on Sundays-Tuesday. Maybe even be the long relief stopper on weekends. Imagine having a talent like him to throw game 4 of a regionals while the other team is running on fumes.

If Cortez can get some consistent control, he can be dangerous. He has a rocket attached to his shoulder.

Cortez goes 5 & 2/3s. 2 runs.
And he almost killed a guy.
