I don't disagree it's a lot of money. It's just a dumb premise. If we can afford to hire him part of that will be a competitive budget for his staff, otherwise he won't be taking the job since that's a major sticking point in every coaching negotiation. I doubt anyone who posts in here knows if there's a group who is ready to step up financially at the end of this year if it doesn't go as planned.
And if you buyout your incumbent staff, you aren't paying their salary, so you'd be paying one staff plus buyouts

Look we get it, you like Sumlin a lot. But if we suck this season, he's gone. Donors will find the money to make it happen. Ether he wins a lot of games and stays or he's out. We aren't going to base our decision on what's going on in the college football landscape, whatever is the best option for us will be done.

this is the key.
It will be such a shitty year for finding a new head coach with all of the possible big time openings, which makes me think this is the year we try to find a new head coach.

Chad 'Swag' Morris would come here. It remains to be seen if he's really a good HC though. If he has a good year this year at SMU - where June Jones had stopped giving any effort at all for about 2 years and absolutely destroyed the program - then, while he won't be absolutely proven, he will be the best we can get and we could feel fairly confident. Herman is not coming here though. Our fanbase needs to come to grips with that.

Folks think SUMLIN is bringing too much drama, herman would have us on ESPN for all the wrong reasons daily

There's is no "thinking", Sumlin does bring too much drama.
You can try to paint Herman in the same light, but it isn't even close. Sumlin looks like a joke compared to 95% of the coaches out there.

The reality has and always will be that Sumlin is much more likely to leave A&M than we get rid of him. Keep dreaming Nacho. We got a great staff in place with great facilities and a great talent base to build from. Best of all we got a 52 year old coach. Saban is 64 and Miles is 62, so they won't be around for long.
The nightmare scenario is that Sumlin just gets annoyed and takes the Auburn job, returning back to AL. It would be like what Saban did when he took a crap on LSU. He would have deep recruiting ties in LA and TX with the extended connections in FL and GA that the school's geography gives them.
We'd regret losing for the next decade just like many of us regret losing RC and hiring Dennis Franchione from Alabama. We got too many dumb asses who always ruin things for this school with knee jerk reactions.
The nightmare scenario is that Sumlin just gets annoyed and takes the Auburn job, returning back to AL. It would be like what Saban did when he took a crap on LSU. He would have deep recruiting ties in LA and TX with the extended connections in FL and GA that the school's geography gives them.
