Boomer White wins SEC Player of the Year.
White & Birk on first team.
Ecker on second team.
Birk & Simonds on all DEF.
Melton and his 63 RBI left off.

Well-deserved honor for Boomer.
Weird that they think 3 1B's had better years than Melton, though:
1B: Nathaniel Lowe, Mississippi State
Second Team All-SEC Teaom
*1B: Peter Alonso, Florida
*1B: Evan White, Kentucky
I haven't looked up their stats and don't wanna, but it's impossible to believe 3 1B's had better years with a bat, plus Hunter was damn fine on defense.

Birk & Simonds on all DEF.
Birk was much improved with the glove this year but it's sort of shocking to see a middle infielder for us named all-def given how poor we were at turning DPs.
I'm also surprised Birk got All-SEC. He was good but about the same as last year I thought.
Obviously Hunter, but really surprised Barash got no consideration

I'll agree to disagree. .275 to .321, but more importantly 8 errors to 2 this year.

Andre Vinson is starting game 1, Hill game 2, and Simonds game 3 (assuming it happens). I will be honest. I hate this idea. I like having him & Ecker out of the pen. This sounds like they're testing him out to be a starter.

D1 & BA both have A&M has the #2 national seed matched up with Ulala. I would take that. They don't have a single impressive weekend series win all year long.

I don't mind giving Vinson a start. If he gave us 3 out of 3 quality starts during a regional, that's all I care about. We've been at 2 out of 3 for months.

I don't put much stock in BA so I was looking at his overall body. He was down in HRs and significantly down in BBs. Looking at OPS though it appears he is up about 50 points so maybe I'm underrating his improvement.

yep. I would have preferred Kolek or Vines tbh. But this is the time to find that starter. I'm just glad it isn't Hill.

okay, so UGA clearly needs a win today (they actually have to get to at least semis) to make tourney
But is OM's host bid at risk here with a loss? I sort of think yes. Or it least it could be depending on what happens elsewhere

It's looking like a fairly likely pairing given Rice is out of hosting discussion. As long as TCU doesn't host, that's gotta be us you'd think.
Pretty sure I'd love that matchup. I don't see monster pitching so I think we'd hit them and my big worry in a Super is we end up facing a Vandy type of team with pitchers that can win games by themselves.

I posted this on tRant the other day, but not sure how many saw it. I figured tmc might appreciate it.

Ulala makes a lot of sense to be matched up with. Tulane too if they get one. If we're looking at a 400mi radius (I think that is the bus travel max) then I believe those are the only 2 regional schools in that window. If you look at high 2s that could be 1s then you have DBU, OSU (maybe?), TCU,
