Diesch may turn out to be the "real deal", but OL recruiting has been a little suspect with this new staff. This staff should be able to "cherry pick" offensive lineman Nationally after recent success.

I completely agree

Feel like we're trying to get a bunch of "diamond in the rough" kind of guys when we should be bringing in consensus 4 star linemen and an occasional 5 star with regularity

I'd rather go with coaches picks than recruiting analysts. Some guys are no brained like little, but the staff has Diesch as the #2 tackle in the state and he's not ranked very high at all.

Arkansas coach is a good OL coach and he was high on him too.

Thank you. Recruiting by recruiting rankings is a horrible idea, especially with Ketch setting Rivals' rankings here in Texas. That's part of what killed Texas in Mack's last few years.

A lot of our early offers have already jumped in the rankings and had other programs put them towards the top of their board.

Case in point, quartney Davis and Charles Oliver.

I think at times, we pushed for some iffy recruits because of their ranking early in sumlin's tenure for the perception boost of recruiting momentum.

Now we know what we have and what we need. Tmc94 said the staff feels like we can win big with what he have on campus and committed right now. Everything from here on out is gravy, and were gonna need a bigger biscuit.

Yep. Early recruiting can be problematic. When recruiting is so sophomore/junior centric you're missing a lot of later bloomers with higher ceilings.

Guys who are high rated to start their junior years were likely physically maxed out as fr/so.

I think Patrick Hudson is one of those guys. he bullied a lot of guys, but doesn't have some of the other characteristics that lead to high ceiling development.

Diesch on the other hand has incredible potential. He's athletic AF, has great feet, and is as long as any tackle in the country. He's just learning the position, but has everything you look for.

I think this hammers my point home about OL recruiting. I just don't think Christensen can recruit. Even with all of the shenanigans...the evidence is getting clear. Patrick Hudson decommits and chooses Baylor. Greg Little decommits and is a "free agent" even with his Allen ties to A&M. Now Jack Anderson commits to Texas Tech.

He can recruit.

We all knew Hudson was going to end up at Baylor based on his connections there.

Really can't hold little against him, little is the Daylon Mack of 2015 and might even be for sale, who knows.

DC has been doing a good job with less talent that we should really have and he is bringing better talent on campus.
