Anyone visiting campus this weekend?
we're in the summer dead period that runs until Sun 7/12
Dead period they cannot meet face-to-face with prospects (they can talk on the phone or twitter or whatever). No campus visits though til after the 12th
SEC Media Days begin on the 13th. Sumlin is on Tues the 14th. Things will probably start popping again that following weekend as Sumlin has the ESPN Car Wash and other requirements that week.

Is that an SEC rule? I was curious because we had some people visiting this weekend. By the way are there any East Texas kids on the radar besides Jones from Nac?

NCAA
It may have started today. I'm not 100% certain on the start date. The A&M coaches have been part of the TMF summer meetings at DisneyWorld this week. I thought it coincided with the dead period but maybe not. I'm certain the end of the dead period is 7/12 though

It's not quite as happening as last year but our two corner commits are both ETXish (Fairfield and Athens), Rogers (WR) is from Frankston and the Anderson twins (OL) are from Mineola. Hudson is Silsbee. But uncommitted we're not after anyone outside of Jones that I can think of off the top of my head for 2016.

North of Huntsville and south of Ennis along 45 is probably where I would draw the western line for East Texas.

Yeah I grew up 9 miles west of 45 almost in the center of that line and we referred to ourselves as Central Texas

I think of even that as too far west in my definition but have noticed everyone has various definitions of ETX. I've got a friend that played in Silsbee's district and he swears he's from ETX. I wouldn't include Silsbee or Fairfield personally but went broader for our Cajun friend.

Silsbee is like 20 miles to LA (as the bird flies). That has to be ETX unless you consider it gulf coast.

The line has to be somewhere. That's not hill country, but I would say Central Texas.

It's East and it's Texas but it ain't ETX. It's Triangle area. Or SETX. Too far south for my definition. I'd say anything south of 190 is SETX

My parents line in Franklin. That's 25 miles west of 45. It is not East Texas and it's not really Central Texas, either.
It's, to be exact, the Post Oak Savannah. The landscape is Central Texas-ish, but there are some pines in with the oaks and the people/culture are East Texas-y, but it ain't really ETX. I think Post Oak Savannah is a necessary descriptor of those "borderland" parts because you really can't just throw it in with either of the other regions. It really is half-and-half. I don't think you are in Central Texas until you are in Taylor, but then again, you aren't in East Texas until Buffalo, and some would argue, Palestine. So in between is the Post Oak Savannah.
I define East Texas as wherever the Pine Curtain drops. In some places that's all the way over to 59. In some places it's right along 45. I always say that you know it when you see it. When the Pine Curtain drops it's pretty hard to miss. At that point, you are in East Texas.

Athens is fo sho in East Texas IMO. It's right around what I'd consider the mid NW border.

Yeah you have to include Athens

I need an official ruling on Cedar Creek lake / Gun Barrel, Tx. Is it Etx?
Posted on 6/29/15 at 10:02 pm to Farmer1906
Cedar Creek Reservoir is the tits. I was out there this weekend. The water had gotten super low, so I think a lot of people must have moved their boats. It's super full now, and I can't remember ever being on a boat in such good conditions without a gazillion other boats out there.
Is it considered East Texas? The people there definitely have that vibe. In a bad way.

My uncle has a house on the lake. When he had to have major surgery he went to Tyler instead of DFW.
So if its not East Texas it may be East Texas Annex.
