I consider myself cautiously optimistic about the season. I think the roster is better. So I feel like our record will be better.

But we may lack depth on the offensive line and at linebacker. We really need to stay healthy there.

And there is the place kicking situation, where we are likely taking a step back. We could end up in several tight games this year where this will haunt us.

Yep. Don't want to think about it, but this is the area I'm worried about. Really really really hope it turns out to be a non-issue.

hink we see obioha and mack together on third down?

almost certainly. We'll mix and match. But I think Zo is probably our best DT pass rusher

what about packages with 3 safties in the nickel

maybe a 4-2 with a rover as base against spread teams, instead of ellis in at nb?

spread is so generic. We'll run a lot of nickel vs "spread" teams. That rover or NB or whatever you want to call it is going to be dependent on the spread. We've had Richard Moore working as a cover LB some as well in passing situations which I think is what you are asking.

No hope to be had on that front, I take it?

I'm grasping at tendrils of hope here, tmc....

yeah, just wondering whether we use 3 safties or 3 cbs if it turns into an every down type situation, not necessarily the two lbs. just wondering if you think we'll stay in base nickel for that.

I wouldn't want to say no hope, but I do fully expect to lose at least one game because of kicking this year. I hope they prove me wrong

We won't need to kick anything

Each game our offense will look like this

We have a couple of variations of nickel sub-packages. How we'll use them, I can't say exactly. We're just playing around with them now in practice.

I think we're trying out all sorts of things with each to give Chavis a good feel for the strengths and weaknesses he has on the field. So I'm not even sure he can give you a good answer on that just yet.

You mean 8 + 8? Or do you not remember how many extra points ol' Bertolet missed?

Have a look at "No Experience Required: Jackie Sherrill and Texas A&M's 12th Man Kickoff Team" (Caleb Pirtle III).
