I agree, if you got talent, it doesn't matter where you play. Looking at his schedule though, he only played real team (Macon County) and was held to 40 yards. I'm not shitting on the kid I'm just leery of his competition.

Agreed.
Greg Emerson just tweeted this:
He would be the second highest commit outside of 5* Cade Mays.

Weekend recap:
4* RB Lyn-J Dixon commits:
247
3* RB Anthony Grant Jr. commits:
247
3* DT Jamarcus Chatman commits:
247
Overall a great weekend. Pinned down both RB spots and added another DL to the mix.
UT's 2018 class is now up to #5 in the recruiting rankings on 247 & #5 on Rivals.
This may end up Butch's best DL haul since taking over once he gets Emerson on board. Brady Hoke has been worth his weight in gold and an immediate impact recruiter at a position of need. Him and Well's have done extremely well in their first year.

You think this would be better than Tuttle and McKenzie?
Posted on 6/25/17 at 10:29 pm to Porter Osborne Jr
It depends on how we close, but I think it could be up there with that class. A lot of that 2015 DL class has been plagued with injuries for most of their careers unfortunately. Phillips, Tuttle, And McKenzie have all had some bad luck. We need all 3 to have big JR seasons this year.

I'm not expecting much at all out of Tuttle this season and it is not his fault. Two severe leg injuries. Two years without being able to train your legs as a DT or even go through Dline drills. Just brutal for development.
I think Emerson is a silent atm. This class has a chance to be better, just need to see how it plays out

Who is Dorian Green?
I think he meant Dorian Gerald.

An article on SECCountry mentions that he is trending towards SCAR but Tennessee is still an option for him. Scout.com shows his interest in VOLS as medium. 247 Sports is showing 100% SCAR prediction for Gerald.

That's correct. Good catch and thanks for correcting that.

So, we need to land Emerson, and a couple more 4*s to have a top 10 class, right?

Do you guys think we would take a JUCO DE? The only player on the whole DL we are losing after this year is Vickers.

I wouldn't be surprised if we decide not to take Gerald and go after a guy with 4 years. Not really sure what our board looks like for HS Defensive ends. It does look like we will take 2-3 more guys on the DL and I think you can pencil Emerson in for one of those spots.

I'm actually hoping Gerald sticks with SCAR and we grab a few solid younger DL guys.

UT is building momentum with and just got a crystal ball for #7 SDE in the country Malcolm Lamar. 6'5 250lb. 4* kid out of FL.

I'm loving how this class is shaping up

Derek Barnett's big night is paying dividends already.

Which is great, we desperately needed some quality DE in this class.

I think we had 5 with 30 recruits last year.
Speaking of which what do you guys think about last year's class. I see two blue chips in Smith and Chandler, a few nice prospects like Butler, Labruzza, Gray, Ignont, and the rest look like lower tier SEC players to straight slaw. Such a disappointing class compared to the massive amount of hype it opened with. I hope and am probably wrong though.
