We're pitching the RB by committee that has been so successful in the past.

We have put the full court press on him over the last month ish time frame. We'll see what happens. This is the latest we heard on his recruitment from Friday
quote:
Initially, Blackman’s star tailback hoped to make a college choice in early June. A June decision means this is likely Tennessee or Georgia. Auburn appears to be fading, and Ohio State wants him to run at camp and he appears to be out off by that idea. Tennessee continues to sell the advantages of staying in-state (focusing on things like his parents’ ability to travel to all games and post-playing career opportunities). Tennessee will be pushing for an opportunity to try and squeeze one final visit from Teague, too. Word is, Teague was leaning Georgia but doesn’t want to be part of a tailback combo with 5-star tailback Zamir White, who is slated to likely pick the Bulldogs on June 27th.

Well, either someone is lying or Teague didn't do much research over the last few weeks that we're gonna land White
I don't think it will bother him though. We've had some successful combos with Gurley/Marshall and Chubb/Michel.

We have very conservative mods on VQ so something has changed in his recruitment or they wouldn't have reported it.

I've heard that several times before and they were way off. Although they are right a majority of the time.

We'll see what happens. It won't be easy to pull a kid out of Murfreesboro that UT is going all in on, but it's possible. We may gotten involved to late. We'll see.

Definitely will be tough but also not unheard of.

I believe Georgia leads for Teague atm. If White goes to UGA then Teague might drop them.

Trevor Daniel's replacement brings a huge leg to VOLS. Verbal commit yesterday from Skyler DeLong(what a name for a punter), top punter in 2018 out of South Carolina. I know you all have probably already seen it, but figured I would add it in here for completeness.

Litaker committed. That's 13 commits, who else are we in on?

Idk but I'm loving the depth we're building up at DT.

Small update
VOLS RB target Master Teague committed to Ohio State. CB Jaylon Reed decomitted
CB Brandon Cross has committed. Not a good offer list and mediocre highlights, imo. We REALLY need to hit on some corners in this class.
'19 CB Te'Cory Couch has committed.
Picked up a pair of 2020 commits Miles Friday and Leonard Manuel
Names to watch:
DL Greg Emerson- I think he is underrated as a high four star. Dude put up a sub 5.00 40 at 290lbs(at 257 now)
RB Lyn-J Dixon- Fits system well. Would be a nice pick up
OL Jerome Carvin- Tennessee/ Alabama battle.
CB Jaycee Horn- Longshot but in it. Major need
DE Dorian Gerald- Juco. Ours if we want him.
DE Azeez Ojulari- Major need, don't know where we stand, but are in it.
Orange Carpet day is coming up this weekend and we might gets some commits.

I fully expect Hoke to land us an elite Dline class this year. We desperately need some pass rushers.
Wells is looking like a real headhunter level recruiter, now I just hope he can coach. It is big time to have two elite recruiters for your line coaches. Strip and Mahoney were not strong recruiters, imo.
Right now Butch has to do three things and we will easily have a top 10 class. 1) Show that he can win big games 2) Show that our staff can develop players. Our last staff did a very poor job here 3) Put players in position to produce. i.e not using WRs like Jennings and Smith as YAC guys. Just get them the ball down the field.

Big weekend coming up for the good guys. Details for the Orange Carpet Day from VQ:
It's sounding like multiple guys could pull the trigger on their visit fwiw

quote:
Last year, Tennessee hosted between 45-50 recruits, landing eight commits during a wild day. Still, last summer’s momentum was short-lived, as Jaquan Henderson, Jordan Tucker and Tre Lawson never ended up signing with Tennessee.
This year’s OCD should be a bit different. The Vols will welcome more than 80 kids to campus, including 30+ 4-star prospects and numerous blue-chippers not yet ranked in the 2019 and 2020 classes. Nearly all of Tennessee’s 2018 commits will be in town, an important note since the Vols’ staff will have to rely in some real peer-recruiting this weekend with the volume of prospects on Rocky Top.

Information from FranklinVol (Very Reputable and connected poster in Nashville whose kid plays at Brentwood Academy) on VQ regarding the Camron Johnson commitment to Vandy today:
quote:
BuddhaVol said: ?
Paging @FranklinVol. Lot's of misinformation in this thread about the recruitment of Cam Johnson I suspect. Hopefully you will come on straighten these characters out since you are our BA insider. TIA
FranklinVol said: UT has recruited Cam since his freshman year at BA. He's always been an intriguing prospect because he is a very good athlete. That said, Tennessee has not been recruiting him hard in the past 6-12 months. Like at all. Is UT right in their eval? Time will tell. If he turns out to be a great SEC football player, you can blame the eval, not the effort. They recruited him exactly the way you would want them to recruit an instate player. They were in on him early, got him on campus multiple times, offered him and then decided where he is on their board. And apparently that's not very high or at least not at the top. When Schoenwald panicked and picked Vandy over South Carolina yesterday, there were many people that thought he might follow. Now the one that's really gonna hurt is when Darius Garland (hoops) picks Vandy. While there's some correlation because the three have played basketball together for many years, the main reason is that Drew has known Darius and his family from way back when they lived in Gary, IN and he was at Valpo. There's also some concern about how Darius would mesh with Coach K at Duke. Unfortunately, I see Darius going to Vandy as well at this point. Hope I'm wrong!
