It's actually pretty boring right now. The real kooks typically start trickling in when fall practice starts and full on invade during the season but they stay mostly in the football forum (not sure they're even aware other forums exist on the board ). Other forums on Volnation are better but the basketball forum went full on nuts post-tourney (hilarious!). Alas, that invasion of the kookier posters seems to have disappeared.

That said, I have been HIGHLY disappointed at the lack of a good melt from Riley Ferguson's departure. That guy was a GAWD and "our only hope evar!" to some posters and there's just not been the total melt I expected. They probably wasted all their melt on the O&W game (Riley had a bad day to say the least). Plus, Ainge's been tearing into Fergy on his radio show which has to be confusing them.

Ah the joys of a large fanbase...

Also, Chris Clark did not end up making it on campus today. I'm not sure yet if he will reschedule or not. He's expected at the Five-Star Challenge this weekend so we will see when we talk to him there.

Nice updates, brah

It sucks that Clark didn't make it onto campus. Hopefully he will soon. And I wouldn't be surprised if Martin is our next commit.

On IMG QB Deondre Francois -- 4* #6 DT QB

quote:

The Top247 rising senior quarterback from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., said Tennessee is one of four teams currently standing out to him, along with Florida State, Oregon and Auburn, and he's planning to visit the Vols for the first time June 16 before announcing his decision next month.

"They're still coming hard," said Francois, who's ranked the nation's No. 152 overall prospect and No. 6 dual-threat quarterback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2015 class. "They've just been telling me the same stuff. They're saying they love my release, and they just want me to come on a visit, and if I come on a visit, then I'll love it.

"I talked to Preston (Williams) ? a 2015 receiver who's committed there ? and he loved it when he went up there, so he's been talking to me about that. They're still recruiting me the hardest."

***

"(Jones tells me) just how he wants me to be at Tennessee a lot, and he thinks highly of me and he thinks that I'm the best quarterback for the program in the 2015 class. He just wants me there."

***

Francois said he's still hoping to make his choice in time to announce it at Nike's The Opening, which will be held July 7-10 in Beaverton, Ore.

"I think I'm going to be ready (by then)," he said. "I think I'm ready now. I just want to take a couple visits to see what I feel when I'm on campus. I don't think I should push it back. If I do, it'd be because I'm just not ready to make the decision yet.

"I've got to take my visit to Tennessee, and (then) I should be ready to commit."

Per P.Fort on this morning Recruiting News

quote:

I know there obviously is a lot of chatter about the quarterbacks today so just wanted to throw some recruiting notes out there.

Sheriron Jones won' be here for the Saturday 'Gruden Camp,' but he will be here Thursday and Friday before heading to Florida for the rest of the weekend. Right now, the Gators are still thought of as the team to beat but Tennessee will have avery good opportunity to try and change that.

Torrance Gibson says he will be in Knoxville this weekend with 2016 teammate Dredrick Snelson so we will be watching that very closely to see if that visit happens.

As we've mentioned several times, 2016 quarterback Jack Allison will be in town as well as Josh White and there are several other 2016 quarterbacks expected to make it in.

Even 2017 quarterbacks are heading to Knoxville this weekend including Alex Faniel (Who played QB for Ricky DeBerry's team as a freshman) and Stuart Head out of Georgia. As the week goes on I'm sure more names will pop up.

Now, concerning more 2015 quarterback visitors, Deondre Francois will likely be in on June 16, Quentin Dormady told me he will be in next week for sure.

But, it won't just be quarterbacks in this weekend as several defensive linemen are expected in. Kengera Daniel is planning to be in Knoxville this weekend. Also, I talked to junior college defensive end Jonathan Calvin tonight and he told me there's a good chance he visits Friday as well.

Also, look for Sam Darnold to make it to Knoxville later this month, on June 28 actually as he does a four-school tour beginning with Northwestern, then heading to see Duke and Wake Forest before ending in Knoxville.

Obviously, we're continuing to build names for the June 12, 13, 14, 16 camps as well as the Orange Carpet Day on June 21.

Finally, as we noted earlier this morning, Tennessee is hosting Justin Martin and Kyle Oliver on Tuesday.

I just read that. Callahan said he thinks it's between VOLS and FSU for Francois, who is planning on committing at The Opening this summer

Dormady is also scheduled to throw for Bama sometime this week so I wouldn't be surprised if they offer him and he commits on the spot.

I really think it's all gonna come down to Torrance Gibson in the end.

Jones- Florida (don't really want but will take if we whiff on the others)
Francois- FSU unless he's blown away on UT visit
Dormady- Bama

There really isn't any other QBs still on the board that we should take besides the above 3 and Gibson. I just don't understand why we are having so much trouble recruiting QBs with all the WR talent that we have landed.

I'm really really hoping that Kai Locksley commits to AU very soon which could push TG our way. If we miss on these four, I wouldn't be surprised if Butch started scanning the JUCO market since we will only have Dobbs and Peterman on scholarship next season.

We definitely need some dominoes to fall in our favor. Do you know who FSU is planning on taking any other QBs other then the one they have committed?

Would love to add Gibson, eager to see how it goes at the Jon Gruden QB Camp.

I know I've beat this dead horse, but I'd be ecstatic if we could get Dormady and Francois.

On Bama, I believe that Travis Waller has mentioned that with the Bama offer he bumped them up in his top 2 with North Western. Curious to see how that plays out.

Even if we're able to get 1 of Dormady and Francois to go along with Jennings, I would still call it a success given the constraints we're currently under.

I think Francois has been their #1 guy from the start at QB. I think they've tried to recruit Locksley but he's gonna be AU or Maryland imo.

I would be pretty pumped if we pulled both of them but I'm not sure we will get either. I hope I'm wrong.

I just think Bama will be after Dormady much harder if he impresses at his tryout. He's got the pro-style QB size that Saban seems to like to recruit plus his stock is blowing up a ton after sitting out his junior season.

And I think Waller goes to Oregon anyways. They're after him hard I've read.

Like I've thought for a while now, it's all gonna circle back to Gibson. Seems like CBJ has all his eggs in the basket now, whether or not it was intentional.

I still think we land TG fwiw.

Bama offered Dormady

Austin Clark looks like he won't be heading to Knoxville after all. From the outside looking in it looks like the staff has cooled on him. I can't imagine turning him away but with Jack Jones, Zach Stewart and Drew Richmond(hopefully) that would still be a solid haul. Still don't understand, but that's why I'm just a keyboard warrior

Yeah true. I was hoping we would take Clark but I've read that the staff believes he will be a guard in college and they're higher on other guards right now. I wish they would take him though.

That would be huge.

This just in on Clark

quote:

Yes, I'm told he is on campus. He mentioned just a couple of weeks ago perhaps visiting Tennessee around this time, but he recently hadn't said that he had any plans to visit UT.

Damn. Huge news.

Fortenberry said this last night

quote:

If he doesn't visit Tennessee before his announcement I believe he ends up a Gamecock. I don't think they would turn away his commitment, but I don't know that they are pursuing him as hard as South Carolina, either.
