I found this quote interesting

quote:

Which non-Auburn coach was hardest to turn down? “I can say Coach Jones. I called Coach Jones after I signed with Auburn but nobody answered. That was pretty hard situation because Coach Jones is a pretty laid-back coach. (Switching schools) was just part of recruiting. I don’t think there’s any hard feelings, or I hope there’s not.”

Butch wouldn't even pick up the phone lol. I cant really blame him though for doing what makes him happy but Lambert handled the last 2 weeks of his recruitment about as poorly as I can remember a player doing.

He comes off terrible in the article. He sounds like a money grubbing idiot. Or maybe those are my UGA colored shades coming out. Maybe I should call him names on twitter

he really does. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if that's what happened.

It actually sounds like UGA and UT were outbid.

That's most likely the case.

The way he flipped just left a sour taste in most UT fan's mouths. I remember about 2 weeks before he signed, an AU writer posting a story that Lambert flipped but then took it down quickly. Lambert then played dumb like he wasn't even considering flipping.

Then, Lambert had like 3 different interviews with UT writers during the last 5 or so days and each time kept saying that he was all Vol and he couldn't wait to get to Knoxville. He even called Butch Jones either the night before or the morning of signing day and reassured him that he was signing with Tennessee.

I understand recruiting and of course there's gonna be flips but I don't understand why some recruits just want to stick it to other teams like that. And then they cry because the fans are going apeshit on twitter.

I think it's more the case that they don't want the negative aspects that come with flipping so they just lie and wait until the last possible moment.

I would imagine it wouldn't have been nearly as bad if he had flipped following the AU visit or at least decommitted then. But what do I know

3* DUAL QB Joe Burrow just committed to Ohio State. I wonder what that means for Gibson?

Seriously though, how many QBs is OSU willing to take this class? This is just their 3rd commitment overall and iirc they were going to have a very small class this year.

Callahan, that bastard, made it be known that OSU will be taking 2 QBs this cycle and this does nothing from their end to slow up on recruiting Gibson. More or less a fall back incase he does end up somewhere else.

I'd be ecstatic with either Gibson or Francois.

VQ update on Drew Richmond

quote:

Richmond has been a top priority for Butch Jones and his staff since they got on the job in December of 2012 and that hasn't changed. Richmond has visited the Vols numerous times now, most recently for the Orange and White Game when he made the trip from West Tennessee to Knoxville with now current Vol Charles Mosley.

Tennessee has positioned itself strongly heading into Richmond's scheduled Sept. 9 commitment date and while Ole Miss, Auburn, Ohio State and a few others are making a push, Tennessee will be tough to beat here.

That last paragraph is Hubbspeak for Vol.

Vols offer Texas QB Quentin Dormady today.

-88 3* on the composite -- #13 Pro Style
-93 4* on 247 -- #5 Pro Style

Missed his junior year with a torn labrum which is why there's a disparity in his rankings among the different services. Should be able to expect a bump in his rating this year when he's back on the field.

IMO he's a no questions asked take. I'd be very happy if we're able to grab him.

VOLS/AU are now co-leaders for 5* Torrance Gibson.

quote:

“Auburn and Tennessee are tied right now with each other at one,” Gibson said. “They are both recruiting me the hardest.”

The U.S. Army All-American broke down what he likes about his finalists. 1. Tennessee - “I talk to coach Butch Jones a lot. I talk to the wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni a lot. I’d like to talk to the quarterbacks coach Mike Bajakian more so I know his plan. I do enjoy talking to coach Zach. They have a great school and campus. They play in a great conference that I like.”

The nation’s No. 14 overall prospect regardless of position will visit Auburn this for ‘Big Cat’ weekend, starting Friday. “I’m going with my teammates Tarvarus McFadden and Dredrick Snelson,” Gibson said. “I’m looking forward to talking to the coaches again and getting a feel again for the campus and having fun.”

In June, Gibson will head to Tennessee for its quarterback camp, which will feature Jon Gruden. He’ll also be at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., in July. Gibson’s plan remains to take all of his official visits in the fall before making his decision. “I’ll probably make my commit a week or two after my season is done,” Gibson said.

Which offensive schemes among his finalists does he feel best fit his skill set? “Tennessee, Ohio State and Auburn,” he said. As a junior, Gibson threw for 1,864 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 1,032 yards and 10 touchdowns leading his team to a state championship.

Would be awesome if Peyton just happened to show up at Gruden's camp too.

It would be awesome if we landed Gibson. If not, I won't cry about it. But I'm sure VolNation will have a freakin' meltdown.
