Plus Bama had several injuries at the RB position, didn't they?

Fowler(who was more of a FB anyway, but still...)and Dee Hart got hurt. So it was basically Lacy, Yeldon and Drake in contention, and Yeldon beat out Drake to split carries with Lacy.

If our running game can put up some good numbers this year, it'll give him something to think about. Malzahn's gonna focus on running the ball, so we'll see how it goes. And if we don't get Thomas, there are plenty more really good RB's out there we'll be in contention for.

It's obvious that Roc doesn't want to be in the same class with Bo and LF

Visiting Auburn again this week and Georgia next week

Does not matter if he commits or not, Saban will take him if he wants him. Reference, Liner, Foster, Yeldon, Calloway and Kouandjio. Dont get your hopes up.

And let me guess, if he doesn't go to Bama it's because Saban didn't want him?

I really don't understand how recruits can buy that whole "playing time" argument. TJ Yeldon and Ameri Cooper were true freshmen that stepped in and played right away at Alabama.

Your depth at RB was a lot different too, and you needed help at WR as that was a weakness and no upper classmen better than Cooper. You just picked up 4 top running backs so don't think that depth won't be an issue for a recruit. Are there good arguments to suggest it is worth it to wait going to Bama? You bet, but to say you don't understand is saying you don't understand football, or recruiting. I am betting you do and maybe didn't think your post through before submitting.

Besides offensive line, the position of WR was our biggest strength. You noticed we didn't miss a beat when we lost DeAndrew White and Kenny Bell to injury. Those were two impact wide receivers and we suffered no drop off without them. Had Chris Black not gotten injured for the year in summer work outs we would have had two freshmen wide receivers starting this year because Black was more highly regarded than Cooper throughout spring and summer camp. And it's not because of lack of depth, it's just because those two guys were that freaking good.

Cooper didn't play at all in the A-Day Game. Chris Black did and he made a pretty big impact in that game, second only to Yeldon.

Cooper did play in A-day. He was targeted twice on long balls. One was barely incomplete; the other was caught but negated by offensive pass interference. Black had 1 big catch in the game that went for a TD. So, did Black have the better A-day performance? Yes, but the daily practice reports that I read continuously stated that Cooper was ready to play whereas Black was a little tentative. One beat writer even said Black may be a candidate for a redshirt. Somehow, the Black hype really got thrown into overdrive before the SECCG with this "Black was ahead of Cooper prior to his injury" talk.

Eh I am not getting my hopes up. If he doesn't got to bama he will end up at like LSU or something. I can't think of any highly rated Oxford kids that have signed with Auburn. Still will be interesting to follow. Him, Williams, and Clark will be 3 instate battles to keep an eye on as I think both (Williams, Clark) are pretty wide open right now

Saban mentioned Black by name at Crimson Caravan last year. He seemed to be very pleased with his performance in spring practice and believed he would get some playing time in the fall. He also mentioned Cooper but only as an aside to what he said about Black.

And I had quite forgotten that Cooper did see playing time in A-Day. My bad.

From even before spring practice started, certain mods were saying that Cooper was standing out amongst the early enrollees and could have an impact freshman year. That talk continued through spring practice. I think Black would've contributed, but I think anyone expecting Black to have a similar impact as Cooper is setting himself up for disappointment. Hopefully, he'll prove me wrong.
