I trust your in depth analysis over all other recruiting junkies on the board. How about helping a fellow Nick Fairley Fan Club member out for a minute? Auburn nation would appreciate it! Also, how do you think he stacks up against former, great JuCo recievers, such as Cordarrelle Patterson, etc? You da man, Magilla!

I don't blame DQ for choosing Auburn with his current situation, I probably would have done the same thing, but if you think there is a chance you get speedy then I need to know where you get your crank!

Not an expert analysis, but here's my opinion on that comparison.

He's a better pure WR than CP was, and not as raw. He has elite YAC ability, and might even have more top end speed than CP, but he doesn't possess the ability to stop on a dime and change direction without losing ANY speed like CP could, and that's not a slight to him because there are VERY few that had moves in the open field like CP. The reports from Minnesota say the same as well.

Better pure WR, comparable athlete, not as good in the open field (very very few are)

Umm...thank you?

I don't want to really anticlimactic in response to this, but he's as good as it gets. I can't/won't speak on him off the field, because I don't really know. I've heard the stories that he dominated several big name DBs instate like they were Neiko Thorpe. Seems like his reputation matches the hype Julio Jones got in the state of Alabama during his high school career.

He's got the size, jumping ability and the hands of a possession WR, but can cut and get downfield like a smaller WR. I think someone like Patterson has him on athletic ability in terms of versatility and speed, but by no means is a slight to Williams. Only real question I'd have about him(and for any highly touted player) is, how will he respond being tested? No one has been a match for him so far, but will it be that easy in college?

I've come to like the Dez Bryant comparison, but Bucc's Thomas one isn't that far off either. He could be a "Halley's Comet" type player in the sense of you better enjoy him while you can, because he might be gone the next minute...

Actually there is an even bigger question. Will he even play college ball? Some on our side say yes. Some say no. I'm sure your side is hearing yes, but I'm not sold. He's been to spontaneous with his recruitment.

Congrats on the pickup btw, AU fans. Shame he lost his cousin to murder, and received those death threats after committing to LSU. A change of scenery will be good.

This is why it's hard for me to compare his cutting ability with CP. CP showcased his freak athleticism and was a 1st round pick after just 1 year in the SEC. It's hard to compare Williams because he dominates everyone at the JUCO level.

CP still looked like a video game in college LINK

Preciate it, man.

I mainly wanted an unbiased, non-homerish opinion instead of forming my own conclusion on him since he committed here. And you've proven time and time again that you actually put in the work to analyze recruits. You should really get a job doing this kind of thing (and then hire me to at least bring you coffee).

I can't disagree with anything you said, either. Pretty good stuff there. Probably the most level headed Tennessee fan I've noticed on the board.

I didn't really want to get into that just due to I really don't know what goes on in his head. Being one and done is a bit presumptuous of myself, but it does have more of a precedent in his situation.

There has been a JuCo player drafted "recently" in Larry Brackins(2005) and a lot more signed through free agency. Less typical, but not unheard of either...
