He’s an average coach with a losing SEC record and losses to Memphis and Vanderbilt on his resume
Not to mention, he’s shown exactly zero ability to not be a piece of shite. This same guy was DM’ing Liberty students defending the honor of his AD just recently. He’ll flame out in shame.

He really just another gimmicky offensive coach that managed to win a few games he had no business winning and has been overrated as frick ever sense then despite the fact that he lost to more teams he had no business losing to than he did beat teams he had no business beating.

Auburn desperately needed Freeze just as much as Freeze desperately needed Auburn. The ultra Christian and Family angle are a perfect fit for both parties.
NIL plays into Freeze wheelhouse and he can instantly assure immediate PT where the talent can shine and not get lost on a roster loaded with 5*’s. He’s a great salesman, has the down home personal touch that appeals to a lot of grandmas and mommas. He can wheel and deal with the agents and he’s now got facilities and resource$ he’s never has before. He’s going to do alright at Auburn and if he manages to string together back to back 10 win seasons, he’ll be a legend equal to Pat Dye in the eyes of their fan base.

I will say one thing though. It was hilarious to see Saban filled with self-righteous rage that another would deign to cheat as obnoxiously as Bama was in the pre-NIL era.

UF, UT and USCe recruiting is just as good. I'm not understanding all the hype. The wealth is being spread around amongst several teams up to this point.

It’s easier to pay top NIL money to a high school senior when you know he is a day #1 starter and the head coach doesn’t care about the juniors and seniors that are pissed off about it because the juniors and seniors have low talent and you didn't recruit those kids being you are new head coach to the team.
Once the lockerroom becomes more talented overpaying the high school kids will prove more difficult.

Putting in the effort.
Seriously. Harsin was the laziest, most arrogant prick when it came to recruiting. Tons of stories out there about not picking up kids and their family at the airport, not meeting HS coaches, standing up recruits at dinners...
He put in zero effort in recruiting.
ETA: Being able to throw some cash at kids and a $100MM facility just opening for this season don't hurt either.
