Pretty sure this is the exact same thing you hear from every fanbase when a prized instate recruit goes elsewhere. Nothing groundbreaking here.

bullshite

You don't see any head coaches saying stuff like this.

The fans, yes. Coaches, hell no.

Dude hasn't even sniffed the first game at ARK and he's already creating a trainwreck on the level of Petrino.

All I'm saying is if you wanted a coach who says stupid things you should have kept johnelle or Nutt.

trainwreck on the level of Petrino

he said this 6 or 7 months ago and has gotten zero backlash from it other than the idiots in this thread who actually think it burned bridges with high school coaches. On the contrary, all indications are that high school coaches love the guy and his staff a lot more than they liked Petrino and his. God you people are stupid

Bielema is just being honest and letting the kids know how it is. He's not speaking specifically for himself, he's talking about how a kid that chooses to go out of state is not exactly welcomed back with open arms and doesn't have as many opportunities back in the home state as if he was a former Razorback.

So a scenario like Ryan Mallett can't play out now?

quote:

I'm sure it's the same in a sense, when someone Bama recruits opts for say, Auburn, instead. You think any Bama boosters are going to go out of their way to help that kid out when football is over. Hell no.

You don't know much about the state of Alabama, do you?

quote:

We are going to be okay without Tenpenny, but he better be schmoozing up with some Bama boosters, because his post football opportunities will be much better there in Alabama than in Arkansas.

Who knows how his career turns out, but that's a dumb way to look at this. No employer is going to care where he went to school if he's qualified and can do the job he's applying for.

I keep seeing this "he said it 7 months ago" line. It was said several times during his spring speaking tour as well.

Mallett came back to play for an entirely different coaching staff and an entirely different system.

Not very often in any state do kids go back to play for the coach they spurned originally.

Now you're quoting what he is saying to alumni groups for the sole purpose of firing them up and getting them excited? Awesome.

You are pretty naive, aren't you?

If one wants to transfer back with eligibility, yes.

A fair amount.

What does that have to do with anything? We've had kids leave the state and eventually transfer back. What I see, from the outside looking in, is a stance that kids that leave aren't welcomed back. Mallet was a kid that left and came back. Now, if a kid left and things didn't work out, why would he want to come back to Arkansas?

I've worked in Arkansas, Wyoming, Texas, and Louisiana with a degree from Alabama. No one has once looked past my resume.

Then you should no kids aren't treated like traitors if they leave.

Oh, didn't realize you were a 4 or 5 star football recruit that spurned his home state team. I stand corrected then.

Honestly, what does that have to do with anything 4-5 years after the fact for these kids? Most everyone has forgotten/forgiven by then and it is on to the next "can't miss kid". That's a short-sighted employer, that doesn't hire a great fit because of where they went to school. I work in engineering/construction, and previously in oil and gas. I've worked for Auburn, Aggie, and GT grads and had them working under me. Employers are going to hire the best fit.

What's amazing to me is that you think this and Bielema is willing to openly state this. I've never heard it from a head coach.

Pretty sure that players family and friends will welcome him back.

What a douche.

Wow. I had higher expectations for him than this.

Who knows, though? Maybe an Arkansas state pride move could pay dividends - it certainly has in Louisiana.

But since LSU's resurgence with in-state recruiting, Dinardo, Saban, and Miles haven't openly stated kids that leave shouldn't bother coming back.

I feel like the majority of LSU fans on here take the same approach to an in-state recruit leaving, which is sad.
