It turned out to be a home run hire...regardless of what most everyone thought. Saban seems to know what he's doing.

Lane is a decent OC, however Alabama is stocked with 4 and 5 star weapons. Saban seems to want to restrict the number of plays. He will still go fast at times, but will also pound the rock and run clock at times.

Will be exciting to see Alabama use picture cards to call plays this year.
Also if Alabama struggles late in the season on defense, lane may be gone.

I think I read this same thread by my fan base about Chizik and his national title season. Home run hire I tell you!

Offensive dominance sure to continue.

He's still an epic douche and dropped Bama from their high.

He had a ton of weapons last year.
But I still think he gets the job done this year.

Exactly what I was thinking. Him calling that play action pass after OSU had just turned it over was a bad bad call. Pick or no pick. That call is the main thing I remember him by as of now.

I laughed at the hire, I'll eat a little bit of crow for last season. I still will reserve final judgment for a little while longer due to the absolute beast that Cooper was last year.

Agree....and tOSU game wasn't his best game. However, without Kiffin we don't make the payoffs last year. I don't think we would have beat AU or LSU. We became somewhat more finesse last year but we had the best WR in the game and a mobile QB. Further, it was Saban's own directive to get more skill players involved.

The OSU loss was a team loss. Three turnovers by Sims hurt and Sims did not have a good game. However we still put up 35 on OSU despite those turnovers, enough to win the game. People forget we had three key defensive starters go out with injuries late in the 4th and that is when Jones made that last big play. OSU peaked at the right time and was just a little better that night. It happens.

Kiffin may be a lot of things but he is one of the best OC's in the game and a great recruiter. I am glad to have him because in today's game with rules favoring the offense, we have to put up points to win.

He's the reason you lost to Ohio State.

Bama lost 35-42 and tards blame it on the OC. Gotta love this place sometimes

Can't wait to see what he does this year with Ardarius and Foster at receiver, Drake back, an improved offensive line, and Henry. Questions still remain at QB, but I'm hopeful Lane goes back to the ground and pound.

I like the Kiffin hire as an OC. I do still think it is hard to play the dominant football that Bama has been known for by putting the D on the field that often.

The jury is out, between Kiffin at Bama and Chavis at A&M, you will see how good defenses will respond to being paired with the quick offenses.

You saw Freeze have to adapt last year and go slow. You saw Bama wear out at the end of the year, and we will see I a few years with Chavis.

But I do think Kiffin is an outstanding OC.

Which is funny you say this, because before last year everyone here was talking about how over rated Amari Cooper was. Who else does Alabama have that is shitty, who will inevitably prove you wrong?

I think you are over-generalizing.

I was the first one to ridicule the hire. I thought it would implode and be one of the worst hires Saban ever made. Shows you what I know about Kiffin. 1 year later, one of the best hires Saban ever made. I thought they should have pounded on Ohio State with the running game but lets be honest. Without the Kiffin hire, they wouldnt have had the opportunity. Will be interesting to see what he does with their QB situation this year but he proved he is one of the top OC's.
