Still that

eta: Kiffin is a clown show and will have Bama on violations within the next year.

at first glance it seems to make a lot of logistical sense if he can keep his nose clean

although I would be concerned with what future plans may be with him if he is still around when saban retires. I would by no means ever want him to be a candidate for my team's head coach

After first glance, it is hard to tell. I don't think you can really get a feel for a coordinator in the first year. Give the SEC defensive coordinators and opportunity to scheme for his offense a little more and lets see where it goes. I may still be a little jaded after Gary Crowton. He lit the world on fire his first year then crawled his way downhill

im a believer in a minimum 3 year review

That would be our pathetic secondary. If Nussmeier was still OC we for sure lose the Auburn and LSU games. Sims was not that great of a QB but Lane put him in a system where he did not have to do much. We rarely threw the ball further than 10 yards yet still set offensive records.

I think he is a much better hire as an OC than K Steele is as a DC.

I've said on here before that he will be bama's Crowton. Inherits an offense full of already-developed players & puts up big numbers in year one. But I think he will fall short in the development department and will soon be at odds with his boss on how to run the O.

I thought it was a bad sign for Saban when he hired Kiffin.

But the offense looked good in yr 1. They moved the ball well. So overall, I have to say that so far it appears to be a good hire.

I wanna see him do it without the best college WR in recent memory.

Which is funny you say this, because before last year everyone here was talking about how over rated Amari Cooper was. Who else does Alabama have that is shitty, who will inevitably prove you wrong?

Kiffin's probably been better then I expected, but I never thought he was a bad OC. I just didn't think he was a good HC.

I still think Alabama's gotten too soft, and should run the ball more, but that started before Kiffin's arrival.

I thought it was a brilliant hire when it happened, and I believe it even more after watching him make Sims an SECC QB last year. That said, he does need to run the ball more when it's working. That's his one fault from last year.

He is what Saban needed to bring his offense out of the stone age. I give kudos to the guy for knowing to borrow plays from a true offensive genius, Gus Malzahn. Alabama's first drive or 2 in the SECCCG against Mizzou was Auburn's offense.

Who were all these fully developed players, aside from Coop? Our OL was maybe the weakest it's been since 2007. No other WR other than Coop could produce or stay healthy. Yeldon was hurt half the year and didn't even lead the team in rushing and we had a 5'11 RB playing QB. What Kiffin did with that offense was nothing short of amazing, period. He will have a better OL this year and plenty of weapons to feature if he can just develop a QB. Should be interesting.

He did a decent job last year. But he lost to OM and OSU, 1 point win over Arky? Was gifted a win at LSU.

Yall woulda won it all if he ran the ball more. IMO he cost Saban by getting away from his bread and butter.

If he try's to throw it all over the field without the best WR in the nation this year.....he won't be around next year

I'm curious to see how Kiffin handles having to use new weapons in WR1 RB1 and QB.

All I'm confident of now is that if he is still the OC when Saban is retiring, someone should disappear him before he gets HC.

There's no denying from me he is a good/great OC. We witnessed him get Crompton drafted in just one year.

I love Lane Kiffin and thought it was a great hire from Day 1.

Great OC, terrible HC.

Why do people think this? If he wasn't hampered by his father and crazy sanctions, he would have been awesome at USC and UT.
