Unfortunately there's probably a good bit of people that think I actually went there (if it were a real thing)

Not as uncommon as you would think. Goes back to before sports as lots of families intermarried between the states.

Northwestern ST Undegrad

Tulane Grad School

Baton Rouge Native, GI Bill worked out best for those school selections in the mid 70's, always a Tiger Fan since selling Pepsi Cola from the ice buckets in Tiger Stadium in the 50's when I was a kid.

Scooter Pervis and Billy Cannon visited my elementary school team at St Agnes when the Stabler Brothers were the coaches, it was like a visit from God.

Well i am a life long LSU fan, and i went to LSU for undergrad, and I am doing a postgrad degree there now.

I think there is no excuse for going against your alma mater. If you love a school enough go there for your education.

Some excuses are if you go to a small school without a great sports program or any program for that matter.

But you are a sidewalk fan, my friend.

My team/school IS my alma mater.
I don't think I'm any better than our "sidewalk" or "t-shirt" fans though.

BA at Mizzou and I am finishing up a Doctorate at kansas.

Screw kU athletics, this was strictly a professional decision. I wear Mizzou gear when I go to class.

Arkansas is different. If you spent the first 18 years of your life there and you aren't a hog fan first and foremost then I wouldn't trust you. It goes beyond just sports. I went to Fayetteville and that has nothing to do with my fandom. I remember crying after Stoerner's fumble and I worshiped Matt Jones. I would gladly become a secondary fan of a new place I moved or a new school I went to but it'd always be second to the hogs. I think it comes down to being raised to be a fan. There aren't "sidewalk fans". Alot of that probably has to do with the fact that if you're willing to actually claim the hogs then it's doubtful you're doing it for bandwagon appeal. We don't have alot of that.

Grew up a die hard razorback, girlfriend brought me to Mizzou.

My room is still an Arkansas memorabilia shop, and in all games that don't directly affect Mizzou, I root for the hogs. But I could never go against my tigers

EDIT: That being said, I still hate LSU way more than I hate kU

Meh, most aubies went to AU.

Gumps, not so much.

Alabama has a population of 4.822 million. Of that population approximately 18% identify themselves as Auburn fans that is 867,000 Alabamians. The Auburn alumni association says there are around 200,000 living Auburn alums. Of those living alums we can generously say that 80% are from Alabama (current Freshman class is only 60% from Alabama). Thus there are generously 160,000 living Auburn alumni in Alabama. Thus, generously, about 18% of Auburn fans actually went to Auburn. So no, most aubies did not go to AU. That is also counting that 100% of Auburn alums identify themselves as Auburn fans.

I know a bunch of people who didn't attend Auburn but cheer for Auburn - have you even been to Birmingham?
