It was pretty bad. They almost doubled our offensive output. Two of our td's were off a PR and a 91 yard pick six. Our other ten points we picked up in a quick spurt right before the half, etc.

I know what you mean about remembering it being worse, but don't let the score fool you, it was really bad. The 2000 offense was just awful.

I said in the "lowpoint of your fandom" thread earlier this week that the 2000 Southern Miss game in the OP was probably it. I went to the LSU-Auburn game that day in Auburn, and they kept announcing the score of the Alabama-USM game and the crowd would just go wild. It was fricking awful.

That awful 9-0 loss in the sleet against Auburn in 2000 was pretty bad too but our poor guys played their guts out despite their mentally handicapped head coach.

But the combination of 30 degrees + sleet + being awful + losing to Auburn = not fun.

I was sitting in the stands for that game. The loss to FIU was the first game I ever put a bet on. Loss to Florida in the SEC championship is the only game that ever put me in a legit state of depression though.

VT beat the shite out of us in the Music City Bowl, I would say the honk if you sacked .... (I wont finish the statement) game but we shouldn't have won more than 3 games after Prothro went down.

I present to you:
The Flea Kicker Play

Nebraska 14 7 7 10 7 45
Missouri 7 17 7 7 0 38

ETA: I'm going with the most painful to the balls, not worst loss score-wise.

Another candidate for me would be the 1997 LSU-Bama game. I don't think it's as "bad" as the losses from the 2000 season or even as bad as some of the games in the 6 game losing streak to Auburn, mainly because we sucked and LSU was pretty good that year. But still, we lost 27-0 at home. I was there that day and wow, thankfully have never seen anything else close to that bad at a game I attended in person before or since.

My undergraduate career was 3 years of Shula and year 1 debacle of Saban. It wasn't not the best of times. It included

- 0-4 vs Auburn
- 2-2 vs TN
- 0-4 vs LSU
- trips to F'ville for Tiffin's clank fest and Gainesville in back to back weekends
- loss at home to Mississippi State when they hadn't won a road game in about 10 years
- trip to Starkville to get croomed in 2007
- trip to Jacksonville to watch the single worst college football game I've ever seen against FSU
- loss at home to ULM

Then I got 2008 as sort of a cosmic consolation prize with the trips to Atlanta, Athens and Baton Rouge but then also went to that SECCG and the miserable Sugar Bowl.

Pretty sure we fumbled on our own goal line and LSU just jumped on it in the end-zone. Wasn't Tucker our QB that day? Horrible.

The LSU game when Josh Reed had 654 yards receiving wasn't very much fun either. I believe Shula kicked a FG at the end and Saban tried to murder him.

Tiffin's clank fest

It was a close game so it probably flies under the radar in a thread like this. But this just might be the one. I think I can safely say I've never melted that hard watching a game before. Also never seen a kicker singlehandedly lose a game like that except for maybe that night that Auburn kicker missed all those kicks against LSU, I think that was the same year actually. Pretty sure the Bama-Arky game was an 11:30 game too, just ruined the whole rest of the day.

It was awful. It was a 2:30 game, the Arkansas people were still fresh off of a few so-so years and didn't really expect to win. Malzahn ran all sorts of loonybird stuff with Mustain and we did Shula screw around offensive mode and yet we still had about 6 chances to win the game.

As we walked out of the stadium the Arkansas people were genuinely patting us on the back and telling us they couldn't believe we lost. That was the day I decided we had to fire his arse.

That's the one, that was their first TD. It was all Kevin Faulk from there, 27 carries, 168 yards.

Kitchens was the QB for us though. 8-24, smfh.

That stretch of mid 90's to mid 2000's is why I will never, ever, ever take anything about our current run for granted. It's still pretty vivid.

And if we ever go back to that I might have to move to Turkmenistan.

Freddie Kitchens has to be most hated alabama qb of all time. This thread is starting to depress me.

Do you all remember when Brandon Avalos (sp?) had to play against UGA. There was one play that sticks out where he turned to scramble with all kinds of daylight in front of him for the first down and as he starts to go forward he just trips over his own feet and falls down?

Dark days.

Can't fault him, he was high as a kite. Hard not to stumble.

Remember when we beat USM 17-3 and he threw 6 passes for 12 yards?

I swear with some of the offenses we had I don't know how we won more than 3 games a year.
