I will ask again.... Other than Auburn hiring Bruce Pearl, do we have a history of hiring coaches with bad reps? Issues in the past?

Yeah, I'm not going to care about Pete Thamel's opinion. He has shown his arse before.

I've always liked Auburn, one of my best friends is a graduate from there... but I'll lose a lot of respect for them if they hire Briles.

Regardless, this entire argument is ridiculous considering the total lack of factual information to back up a claim that Auburn is a morally bankrupt program in any way comparable to PSU. I assume that the perception of corruption stems primarily from

unsubstantiated
pay-for-play allegations that even if true aren't remotely on the same level, and definitely wouldn't suggest that Auburn would behave similarly in that position.
Ever heard the Pat Dye tapes with the Ramsey kid?...or Terry Bowden's recount of his experiences on The Plains?

You spend your time refuting everything the article says, then you agree that Auburn would be going after Briles?

But I do find it odd that Fedora cannot seem to defeat inferior teams in the season opener.

You mean the inferior team that has beaten Auburn like a yard dog 8 of the last 10? Those inferior teams?
Seems to me Auburn has no problem with coaches who lose to inferior teams on a regular basis.

The whole article is stupid in the first place, because there doesn't seem to be any indication or chatter that Auburn will even be replacing a head coach at the end of the season.

I heard them. A kid with a wife, and a baby, came asking for help. Dye helped him out. Not one tape shows where Auburn went to him first. Ramsey was always the one asking for help. We should have just set up one of his parents in a house right outside of Auburn.

Auburn does what it wants.

Get over it. We have no State Governments controlling us like the rest of the SEC "Big 6" teams.

We will hire who we want, when we want, whenever we chose.

I would think with all those advantages Auburn would be in the position Alabama is in right now. You would think Auburn would have wanted to hire Nick Saban and would have won the last 4 of 7 National Championships.

I guess Auburn does what they want and hires who they want....they just want the wrong things.

This thread is a national sports writer thinks that Auburn is run by ends justify the means pieces of shite and therefore wouldn't be surprised if y'all associated with the biggest piece of shite in college football despite the backlash.

No other program has that kind of shade thrown on them, I would be ashamed if it was A&M they were talking about.

Cry about it you little bitch. Maybe thats why you figs underachieve all the time

I mean we did hire a coach who did win the NC and hired another who played for one right in the middle of Alabama's historic run. They may not have been good long-term, but we've accomplished more than any other SEC school in that time frame.

Of course, that depends on what happens the rest of the way, though. You guys have a tough schedule the rest of the way. Arkansas, Ole Miss, Georgia and Alabama could all beat Auburn. (Really hard to say about Georgia as we don't know which Georgia team will show up against Auburn, but the other games look very, very tough.) It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes for Auburn, Georgia and LSU. Those teams could go either way and tell us a lot about their future.

But yes. You are correct. I just don't see Auburn hiring Briles under any circumstances. I would think Briles will have to go to a school with a much lower profile before he gets another shot at a big time program.

I could definitely see him coming to Auburn as an OC or as a consultant. But I think Gus has righted the ship to some degree and there's no reason to believe we won't be at least competitive with the rest of our games this season, If the offense does start clicking, there's no reason at all to make a move, given the youth on the offensive side of the ball.

I am aware of what Auburn has done. I was taking a well aimed shot at the Auburn fan that took a well aimed shot at Georgia.

(The Fedora can't beat inferior teams in the first game of the season remark. No UGA fan had posted in this thread to that point, so I thought it odd to take a cheap shot at Georgia)

Shocking - as Auburn is not a very ethical institution to begin with. Last chance U.
