I see one coach that is trending upwards while the other is in the opposite direction. Bert started with very little and is building a team that has become very competitive. In a couple of years, I expect Arky to be top 2-3 in the west while Gus will likely be looking for a job at some 3nd tier school. I'll take Bert.

Chiz switched to a pro style offense in 2012 without the right players and had an awful OC. That was a very bad team, but more due to coaching and scheme. Gus walked into a program with good talent and many players that he had recruited himself and fit what he wanted to do on offense.

Sad that Auburn fans need this spelled out to them

so Auburn being 3-9 the year before Gus got there and taking them to the championship game while winning the SEC isnt doing a better job? LOL Any non-biased fan would say Gus. Any retarded Arky fan would say Bert.

This. Based on available evidence, Gus is the choice. His worst SEC season is 1 game worse than Berts best SEC season and Gus has had success at arky and auburn as an OC.

And the funny thing is, auburn fans are frustrated with Gus (rightfully so), whereas arky fans are still bragging about Bert.

But with all that being said, I would not choose either one and frick auburn.

I'd rather have Bielema than 80% of the SEC coaches...Gus being in the 80%.
I've been saying it for 3 years.

There is no question that Gus in a better OC than Bert but that really doesn't mean anything in terms of being a HC

Soooo...27 wins vs. 18 wins? Yeah Gus has done a much better job.

Do you really think wins tell the how story without any context? Gus has done a better job to this point but that isn't really the question.

This is year 4 for both and will tell a lot. Unfortunately I'm not liking what Gus has been telling me the past month or so.

His 2 "downswing" seasons has been 2 "upswing" seasons at Arkansas. That's not something you want to brag about. Plus, auburn looks like the better team going into next season than Arkansas, who loses a ton.

The only really key loss in QB, which is important but Enos did a great job with BA last year.

There has to be some perspective when looking at the two coaches and their situations. Bert might regress this season but he has improved Arkansas every year he has been there.

There is nothing wrong about picking Gus but people don't seem able to actually give solid evidence with context attached to it. Simply looking at their records is a dumb way to judge coaches at different schools.

Sure, if Gus gets good QB play then I think most of Auburn's problems on the offensive side are solved. When Gus gets the right QB, he has shown his offensive is as good as it gets. It will be interesting to see how Steele does in his first year there.

Exactly.

Arkansas won 1 more game than Auburn in 2015, and it's because Arkansas was finally able to beat Auburn...in 4 overtimes...at home.

Auburn played the entire season without a QB who could throw a forward pass and was a 4 OT game away from having a better record than Arkansas with the best team they've had in years.

He will likely underachieve with a ton of talent already there, like he did at LSU (and arguably Clemson).

Geez. Would you rather be cut in half by a lazer or a chain saw?

What choice.

And almost all your RBs, and Henry, and 3 offensive linemen (including the best). It's much more than just losing a 3 year starting QB.

Arkansas is going to have to lean on the defense a lot next season and that was a defense that simply was arguably worst in the league this year.
