Was going to say, the target the whole time was Aranda, we wound up with Steele for a year.

Les has a funny way of never firing any assistants, they just "find other opportunities".

Mazzone? Like LSU and Steele, UCLA fans wanted him fired.

UCLA's offense was pretty good with a true freshmen under center. I don't know what the fans wanted, but I know he was offered a raise to stay.

You dos more for LSU football that our AD did.

I remember their fans hated him as much as we hated Steele.

Pittman is a great hire but he's not better than whoever their OL coach was when Gurley and Chubb (his freshman year) played.

All Gus wanted was someone who would regress the Defense back to the Ellis Johnson days. He had a good relationship with Steele thru his brother. Gus knows that this team will depend on QB play, not the greatness of the Defense. The Defense will be at least average, that is all he wants.

The best thing about Auburn hiring Steele was that they paid a buyout to get him which basically we used that money to Hire their best recruiter away. Also used it to pay Orgeron and Raymond more.

So has every single other coach that has left LSU under miles. He doesn't "fire" anyone

Maryland managed to "Steele" our OC Greg Studwara from us to coach their O Line in 2013

Would Steele be the DC at LSU this year if he hadn't left for AU ?

To be honest I really can't tell you that he would have been fired. But I sincerely believe he was encouraged to look around, and told he would not have been re-signed after the 1 year remaining on his deal (2 yr deal)

I think y'all are kind of in the same spot we were in last year. Needed a quick fix after your high level DC was hired away. I wouldn't be surprised if y'all end up w a better hire soon, and Steele is good on the recruiting trail in that filler year too

LSU averaged scoring 15 points per game in their three loses last year. It doesn't sound like the Defense was their biggest issue last year. Did Les tell Cam to look around also ?

LSU always has low offensive scores. When we have a great DC we don't give up in the 30s every game and still are in it

We beat ole miss 10-7 in 14
Tied bama 13-13 in reg in 14
Lost to Ark 17-0 in 14

All 3 of those games were blowouts this year, we had more offense and points in those games this year too

Edit: yalls 2014 performance was one of the better ones ever put on a chavis D here. I'll give you that

Thanks for showing that the Offense has been the problem two straight years. Sound like Cam might be the worse hire of the season.

Did I ever say the offense wasn't a problem. Does that mean the defense can't be a problem as well?

We need a good defense to compete with les' philosophy on O.

When we have a good D we can still be elite with a struggling offense. Steele couldn't provide that

Malzahns auburn doesn't need an elite D to win the west. Miles' LSU does.
It been proven in 05/07/11 for us, and 10/13 for yall

People aren't saying its a bad hire bc we think you will suck, we just think auburn could have done much better. And I think you will sooner than later

Jeremy Pruitt. Dudes ridden the coattails of elite coaches with superior talent at every stop of his career (Hoover with Probst, Bama with Saban, Fisher with FSU, Richt with UGA).

Smart was a good intelligent cerebral coach. Pruitt is an arrogant, prick, typical loud redneck. From personal experience he's of below average intelligence. Everywhere he's been he seems to wear out his welcome with people ready to run him out of town on the heels of some behind the scenes sex scandal, or causing in fighting on the coaching staff.

If he wasn't well connected from his time as a walk-on at Bama he'd be a position coach somewhere like Plainview HS. The minute somebody gives him full control without an elite HC to lean and he can't out talent somebody and has to try to win with coaching he's going to fail hard.

There was a reason there wasn't much of a fight to keep him.

Chaney has never met a 3rd and 2 that he didn't like to call the 40 yard fade. Get ready UGA fans, there's about to be a lot of...WTF moments.
