And then right after a nice little dump pass to Cunningham I believe it was.

You could be labeling it right, Spurrier just calls it the Emory & Henry. I've heard it called the Hijack, Tomahawk, and just plain split-tackle. Either way, it does a pretty good job of spreading out the D and manufacturing more yards through mismatches in blocking schemes. We could see a good bit of it Saturday, with Wilds toting the load. Hell, even Kenny.

During the post-game press conference, a reporter asked Spurrier about the Emory & Henry formation plays. Spurrier said the formation was "not exactly the Emory and Henry" (E&H). Spurrier said, "we call it the spread."
Spurrier's tweak to the E&H involved bringing one of the flankers into the central formation as a slot back. In the game against Kentucky, that player was a tight end, Justice Cunningham, a strong blocking player.

Yea, Spurrier actually saw that formation when he was a kid, and that's where he saw it. The guy behind me may have called it the hammer, I dunno. I just know I heard it called that, and it stuck with me.

He saw it at an Emory & Henry game as a kid and it stuck with him, from what I've gathered.
In the "typical" split tackles, there isn't an upback (like you said). Instead, that player would be an extra blocker on the other side of the ball. Effectively you have:
Blk Blk G C G Blk Blk
F F
RB QB
There are 2 blockers ahead of each H-back or Flanker, which forms a balanced formation (other than the F/H back)

I was just quoting what i found when I looked up Emery and Henry Formation.
Either way We'll probably use this formation on Saturday a couple times

This is one of those times when UF absolutely needs to beat UGA, and UGA has to absolutely lose to Auburn, and USCe absolutely has to lose to either UT or Arky
Then its UF @ USCe for the East crown
Then its UF @ USCe for the East crown

I'd much rather it come down to a game of two teams who haven't played yet, then a bitch arse (UGA) team backdooring in.

BTW, UF could also go 5-0 in the East, and be left out of the SECCG.
I honestly dunno how on Earth UGA lucked out with that schedule this year...

how bout them dawgs!
Dawg fans have to be happier at this point than mid-September, but they are somewhat lucky that they're not playing LSU, Bama, or Arky.
