If he does it'll be a Bobby Bowden type situation.

Bobby Bowden admitted that he quit coaching in the early-00s. He became a figurehead. Saban doesn't seem like the kind of guy to quit coaching unless he's retiring.

I think Saban runs 100% or not at all.

SEC schedules were a different animal back then, as was the style of play. There is far less margin for error today. A good team having an off year can fall hard, see eg, Florida, Auburn etc recently.

This is very true. But when you continuously bring in recruiting classes that are rated #1 by all the top sites, your off years aren't going to be as bad as the off years of other teams.

Failure at the QB position is the common denominator for those programs that fell hard. They failed to recruit a quality QB over a two year period. If it happens to bama this year, that will be the reason.

Lets be honest here. Quit, no. Leave, yes. He has many times.

Alabama is so talented that a hamster on a wheel could direct them to a winning season.

Tell FSU fans that. They were bringing in top 5 class after top 5 class. Most coaches have the game pass them by....if they stay in it long enough. Bobby Bowden and Mack Brown are living proof of that.

So by the basis of which you have set that Alabama is now in decline, which obviously means descending from the too or certain.

One can only assume that Alabama's version of #tDecline is going to a slightly lesser BCS than the national championship.

Man. What a shitty life. #firstworldproblems

Don't know what I was getting at with this post but I just wanted to hear myself talk/see myself type.

FSU has never recruited as well as Alabama is now. Alabama is in a league of their own as far as modern recruiting is concerned.

And Bobby Bowden admitted he hung it up sometime after the 2000 season and FSU wasn't the same after that.

Mack Brown was a good coach, not a great one. He only won the Big 12 twice despite having only Oklahoma to compete with throughout most of his career there.

Those Texas teams he did have that won the big 12 were dynamite though that's for sure....especially that first one.

If he can continue to recruit at even 80 percent of the level he does now, he will never have a losing season.

Saban is a different animal than Mack. He will probably be in the conversation for the best coach in CF history.

A better question might be will he ever have a less than double digit win season before retiring?

Do you barners remember when y'all were saying he's never won double digit games two straight years? Well, he's on 6 in a row right now, which is 4 more than auburn has EVER done. (And they've only done that ONE time.)

Except at the QB position. Which is the one spot that can lead to a major slip in play.

It can indeed. However UA usually puts enough talent on the field to mask an average or even slightly below average QB. All we need are game mangers. Just don't turn the ball over and let the refs do the work.

or will he hang em up before the game really starts to pass him by? Every great coach goes through this and with Saban closing in on his mid 60's, the day will come sooner than some may think. Just curious what y'all think happens first.
What happens first is...he kicks LSU's arse about a dozen more times, wins 4 or 5 more natties, THEN rides off into the sunset ...The End.
