Their line (especially their ends) were regarded for their pass rush. There was huge questions about their ability to stop the run.
This is actually true. Steckel struggles against teams like Auburn. We gave up almost as many rushing yards to Navy a few years ago in a bowl game.

Mr Miyagi must be smoking crack. I can't hardly debate here because half the posts are trolls but the facts are that the ACC-Atlantic conference is one peg above the AAC.
If you chart Auburn's opponents and FSU's opponents based on adjusted data for strength of schedule this is what you get:
Still on paper FSU is a better team, by a little. But by a tiny margin compared with any team FSU played this year.

I've watched four FSU games and they are a very good football team, but you acting as if Auburn has zero chance to win
I'd give them a 10% shot. They've proven to be the luckiest team in a long time.
But no, giving them zero chance would not be nearly as stupid as predicting a Bama/Miami '92 type AU blowout.

We know AU can bet a good team or two
We also know they can lose to a good (but not great) team.

Notre Dame squeaked by in many games last year. FSU has blown out everyone they've played. These are guys recruited by SEC teams. They are not Notre Dame guys.
Notre Dame's final strength of schedule ranking was 8th (NCAA's ranking). FSU's is 38th, and AU's is 1st (teamrankings.com).
Comparing FSU to Notre Dame is too generous. The strength of schedule lesson is what the SEC has been teaching the nation since AU got hosed in 2004.

Nor did they in the first half of the Duke game.
They didn't score a zillion points in the first half, but Duke did NOTHING.
They got off one FG attempt after a turnover, and that was it.
This game was an absolute blowout.

Yes, that's what someone who is cheering for an ACC team would say.
I'm a Bama fan, and a fan of SEC football through and through, but I'm no delusional idiot that thinks that UF beating OSU years back has any bearing on this game whatsoever.
This FSU team is very similar to what we've seen from recent top SEC teams.

Maybe FSU is this years Notre Dame.
Keep telling yourself that. FWIW, that's the same line of thought that retard boy who said Arkansas would have run the table with FSU's record believes.

Auburn is literally terrible in every aspect of the game that doesn't deal with running the football. They are 109th in passing offense, 66th in rushing defense, 102nd in passing defense and 90th in total defense. All of the previous SEC champions had to deal with tough schedules too and they were never that bad statistically. Auburn is a mediocre team that has gotten lucky all year. If they somehow miraculously beat Florida State, they'll go down as the worst national champion of all-time.

You're mixing and matching ranking methodologies. It ends up being meaningless.
Eta: Last year's Alabama had the 33rd ranked SOS.

And yet they're 12-1 and beat the undefeated two time national champions.
You do realize what passing offense is based on right? # of yards per game. Why does Auburn need to pass if they've got the #1 rushing attack in the country?
And 38th in scoring defense. You may gain yards but you won't score. They have the 19th best red zone defense and keep in mind they play in the SEC not the ACC.

That could be. It doesn't really change the argument.

And that's how that game ended.
Pivotal.
