No just saying, we're not really known for academics except in a few select fields like accounting and forensic chemistry I think. We're not really known for football except for people who can remember the 60s. We've never been to the SEC champ game. I mean what is there appealing to a fan about our school without traditions? Sure maybe we'll get one or two more recruits every once in a while who ignorantly thought we were racist before. But most who think we're racist haven't been to the campus or met anyone around the school.
I put in bold what you should be more worried about than defending Col. Rebel. He sure as hell didn't get us there.
Did you know that our football team has literally done NOTHING worth substance with the foam-headed Col. Rebel on the sidelines? Our "glory years" saw a guy dressed in a Confederate Uni roaming the sidelines. Are you going to now push for that mascot to be on the field? Col. Reb supporters keep talking about honoring traditions but they never seem to mention honoring the mascot before their version of Col. Rebel.

they already are what?
....you need to at least quote what it is that you are referring to. Else you just come off as a Ruhtard.

Then why don't you go to work tomorrow wearing a Conf. Uni and waving a Conf. flag.

My work isn't called "The Rebels", it would make much less sense.....

What's it matter? You said that you'd support that.
Go all out. You have fun with it.

I didn't wanna see colonel reb go just like you guys, but it's just something you guys had to do and it's over with. Move on. And it's not even that bad of a mascot. There are tons that are worse, way worse. Get over it.

Hate agreeing with Bulldogs.

And how is having a bear going to get us there? I'd much rather have nothing than a bear. The mascot has nothing to do with football success. Col Reb hasn't been on the sidelines for years, but I'm more disappointed with the fact that they took the logo away which has been part of the school for a very long time. And they think it's actually going to do us some good. Maybe we should go ahead and book our hotels for Omaha, since Col. Reb isn't bringing us down. (sarcasm)

Also the name Ole Miss Rebels is more "racist" than Colonel Reb. Would you be willing to support the school if they change it all?
That's what I've always wondered. Either stick with what you have, or get rid of it all. The PCs won't be satisfied with the switch to Yogi's sensitive cousin. They'll start the shame-campaign to get rid of "Rebels" at the first home game.

It will sell well. It may take a few years, but it will bring in big bucks for us.
I bought a bunch of Colonel Reb gear as soon as they changed the mascot. But if they new mascot looks like the current drawing I will not be wearing it on anything I own.

This is a stupid thread...

Our current chancellor won't be the one leading the charge.

Didn't watch that video, but I'm assuming it's about how they won't change the name Ole Miss Rebels bla bla bla. Even if they didn't change it, that still defeats the whole purpose. If we're trying to get rid of the "racist" image, don't we have to get rid of Ole Miss Rebels too? If we're worried about negative recruiting, why would Dan Mullen or Saban or anybody not use "Ole Miss Rebels" against us? If they still do, then getting rid of Col Reb is pointless.

We didn't do this for the PC's. We did it for ourselves.
I don't even know where all these PCers are. I know 15 haters of PC for every PC'er I know.
We get more hate from "traditionalist" assholes for changing than we ever got from actual PCers.

Exactly. Just like somebody posted the other night that the reason we didn't have a PBK chapter for so long was because of the rebel flag.

I'll believe that shite.
We're not allowed to host an NCAA tournament because we have a confederate flag in our state flag.
