We don't have to deny it to keep the tradition. We can just keep it because we want to. People can negatively recruit us if they want to. But as long as we can get the recruits on campus to show them the truth about how we're not racist, it's ok. We've had good recruiting classes the last few years with Col Reb as the logo. Putting a bear in place won't make it any better. Plus we lose money in merchandise whether you replace Col Reb with nothing or a new one.

Really? I'm not sure how we did in recruiting back during the Eli years, I vaguely remember it as being one of the reasons that Cut was fired after one losing season.

I'm talking about the past couple years of Nutt's recruiting. He's done pretty well. Orgeron was able get over it even though he only won like 10 games.

Dan Jones led the charge for a new mascot.
The IHL appoints the chancellor. He's paid appointed and paid by the state...so yeah, the university is an extension of the state.
