I'm of the belief coaches are judged on their body of work within one sport. the NFL and NCAA are both football obviously but completely different. I don't think any less of Carroll, Saban, Spurrier as coaches just because they bombed in the NFL. Who's to say Belichick would dominate in college football, I'm not sure that's a guarantee.

This is on the fringe of what I am arguing. I will respond, but I will reiterate that your plan for the next hire is not the proven formula for high level success. Recruiting monster classes is.

With regard to this thought that they are two separate games, even if I grant you that. We have Walsh and Harbaugh that can win in either place. Carroll too. I'm not sure how he qualifies as bombing out as his first run while decisively average wasn't ruinous and his most recent run has been pretty impressive with a playoff win with that dumpster fire of a team. He would have won that division again if it wasn't for, how about that, another college coach to the NFL guy putting a helluva run together. on the civility btw.

Saban is a Master in the College Game, not so much in the NFL as H.C. He was a great Defensive Assistant Coach in the NFL.

agree so far obviously - he's been great at both Stanford and with the 49ers

Carroll too

very meh in the pros - the Seahawks look like they are going nowhere fast. he was obviously unbelievable at the college level from 2002-2008 (which I think speaks to him being a tremendous recruiter and putting together a great staff early on at USC)

I disagree with that as a hard and fast rule - guys like Bob Stoops, Tom Osborne, Gary Patterson, Mark Richt, and Chris Petersen show that sometimes the right hire was just a coordinator

It's fun to watch the Miracle on Markham footage.

Arky fans loved Nutt back them ("The Nutt House!"). LSU fans were head over heels in love with Saban. Saban, defensive genius for the ages, allows Arkansas to throw two deep balls in a row to win the game.

LSU was so devestated by the loss that the next season we went on to win the national title, steamrolling the Hogs along the way.

But congrats to the Hogs on denying us the opportunity to have three straight SEC West titles (2001, 2002, 2003). Something to hang your hat on since the Hogs never hoist up any trophies in the Georgia Dome or the Superdome.

Man, it's pathetic to see Arky fans hang on to 3 out of 5 so much. We have 2 out of 3, 6 out of 9, and 35 out of 55 which are all better than 3 out of 5. I'm curious as to what will happen after we win next year. "Not counting the past 2 years, we won 3 out of 4 against you guys!!!"?

The lengths LSU fans are willing to go to slight Arky is awesome. The way you guys look down upon them and refuse to give them any recognition while at the same time embracing TAM is pretty hilarious.

LSU might not like TAM, but they despise Arky and that to me is a rivalry.

He's an auburn fan - why would he care about 9-6?

Plus, he seems like a genius to me.

The arky poster attitude here is most perplexing..one the one hand they constantly belittle LSU and on the other, they're totally fixated on keeping the season ending T'gvg. game intact. WHY ?
Is it because the pigs NEED this nationally televised game a lot more than LSU does ? They whip themselves into a season ending frenzy each year...why can't they do this vs. another border team ?
Think of it this way....LSU petitions the SEC for an "equalized/fairer schedule...NO DICE, LSU tradition dictates as many nite games as possible....SEC/TV say tough luck ! It's about time LSU gets something we want i.e. a season ending game which makes much more sense !
Don't worry pigs, you still get to play us albeit in the middle of the season and you still get to play some kind of tigers at the end. LOL

Please read slow, we really don't care. We will find a better team than you LSU losers, hopefully a team that can cross the 50 that way the game will be interesting.

Probably Texas. Arkansas Texas will draw more than Lsu vs anyone.
