Because Oklahoma is one of the top 7 football programs of all time and Arkansas is ... Arkansas

I usually don't pass up a chance to piss on Arky but I can't this time. If Oklahoma was in the SEC they would be lucky to make it to Birmingham Bowl each season.
Are you aware of how good the big 12 south was from 2000-2009? Or the teams OU played regularly in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s? Or maybe you could enlighten yourself by looking up OUs record vs the SEC all time? If OU were to make the jump to the SEC a top 10 recruiting class would go to a top 3 recruiting class easily. OU recruits Texas and Cali heavily but also Louisiana, Mississippi, SC and FL unlike Arkansas or pretty much any SEC team besides Bama and LSU. As far as winning goes OU has been the best at that in modern times while playing Nebraska And texas yearly, who are actually better competition historically than any sec west team besides Bama... I actually think you should end yourself for making such a remarkably ignorant comment.

There are about 30% more people in Oklahoma and they have more minorities. Our in-state recruiting is pretty bad.
Since 2000 the media has been in love with them, having them ranked pre-season top 10 nearly every year and they've used that and previous success to bring in recruits from out of state.

Oklahoma Blue Chips per 247 in 2016: 40
Arkansas Blue Chips per 247 in 2016: 23
Its pretty simple. Oklahoma as a state produces more talent than Arkansas. Norman/Oklahoma City is a spit away from the Texas border and not far from the DFW area.
Oklahoma also plays a handful of games, or more each season in the state of Texas. Its really not that hard to figure out why Oklahoma recruits better than Arkansas.

Stoops is just a better salesman than Bert. Even the media give OK way more credit/respect than they deserve. It reminds me of how the media swooned over TN this year. Some coaches are just better at selling 'ocean-front-property-in-Arizona'
Stoops is the B-12/11/10's version of Jones

25,000 high schools in TX, iirc. Seems like Arky should be able to at least pull raw o-line and d-line talent they can develop out of TX. Maybe Bert needs to spend less time eating, golfing and doing reality tv and spend more time recruiting?
OL Recruited under Bert
Denver Kirkland: 4* from Florida
Dan Skipper: 3* from Colorado
Brian Wallace: 4* from St. Louis
Frank Ragnow: 4* from Minnesota
Sebastian Tretola: 3* from California
Jalen Merrick: 4* from Florida
Zach Rogers: 3* from Texas
Jake Heinrich: 4* from Iowa
Its not a problem of going nationally and getting guys on the line. The problem this year was Kirkland deciding at the last minute he was going to turn pro and leaving the staff scrambling to fill with a JUCO guy. They did so, but the JUCO players have not panned out like planned. Ramirez and Malone have not even cracked the two deep this year.

orthwest Arkansas is a better location than Norman. Have you been to both places?
Been to both. Norman is kind of a shithole off the freeway. Northwest Arkansas is pretty damn nice.

Agree that NWA>Norman
Being right next door to OKC helps Norman a lot though. Also being a couple hour drive from DFW helps a ton too.
Why is this even a thread? Any person with an ounce of brain matter understands why OU recruits better than Arkansas. More in state talent plus location to Texas. It isn't rocket surgery.

Excuses. This is why Arkansas continues to suffer. They accept mediocrity.

Fayetteville is waaaaaaay nicer than Norman, but OU has a winning history and the aura of a prestige program that Arkansas does not. Plus, Norman is cognitively just a real easy drive straight up from DFW, whereas Fayetteville is cognitively just far enough to be "far away" from DFW, even if it really isn't.

You are wasting your time with these guys. They are so selective on their criteria on how mighty and powerful the SEC is. For one they ignore that about 75% of it is Alabama. Then they will cherry pick and choose which seasons of Missouri's and A&M's they will use to support their argument that no Big 12 team can compete in the SEC. They will ignore Mizzou and A&M's overall records against the SEC. They will also ignore OU's success against the SEC including beating Alabama in their prime.
This of course leads to the conclusion that OU would be in the Birmingham Bowl. Never mind A&M and Mizzou have played in the Cotton Bowl twice, Peach Bowl, and Citrus Bowl.
Don't get me wrong I don't miss the Big 12 one bit and I love playing against SEC teams but the arrogance from many on this board is astounding.

They should get muschamp after SC is done with him so they can have good talent then get a decent HC.
I'd take muschamp as a DC but not as head coach, face of the program. The biggest problem is the problem we've always had, OUR program and boosters don't purposely break the rules and buy kids, and it does create a disadvantage when going up against programs that do

unless youa re driving a nascar there is no way you make it from NWA to dallas in 5 and a half hours. it takes 6 hours to get from little rock to dallas. take on another 2 to get to fayetteville. takes exactly 2 hours 5 mins for me to get from conway to fayetteville
Driving distance from Dallas:
to Fayetteville: 333 miles
to Norman: 190 miles
Without stopping, I can get from my North Dallas location to Fayetteville in 4.5 hours. The drive through Oklahoma is less than pleasant. It is the only part of Oklahoma I've seen, but it has to be the worst part of that state.
The biggest factor has to be the population and lack of blue chip recruits in state.

I'm very interested to see how Hurts reacts to Tiger Stadium after yall have had all day to get good and rowdy. There is a reason its tough there at night. Y'all damn idiots start drinking at 5 in the morning and by game time its full on hysteria. By God it fricking works though.
I hope he doesnt get rattled. He hasnt yet and hes been tested with some pretty brutal hits and has had some bad plays that he came back from without acting like they ever even happened.
He's far more mature than any true freshman ive ever seen but this is gonna be a whole different animal for him. Looking forward to it, Tigers.
As crazy as it sounds, Arkie sealed their fate by joining the SEC. Most of Arkies recruits came from Texas. A lot of kids go play where it is closer to home so their folks can see them play. Arkie played all schools in Texas. Arkie is playing schools now that geographically is tough on the families.
