Norman is a shithole compared to NW Arkansas.

It does amaze me how they recruit so well

It's basically OKC . . . and I'd live there before NWA. Better looking women for one thing.

Well Oklahooma is one of the dirtiest programs known to man. That's a beginning.

Switzer's days were seriously some of the dirtiest times "amateur" sports have ever seen. Honestly, nowadays I think they're just big money dirty, that is, somewhere in Bama's neighborhood but with enough compliance effort and efficiency to keep things looking above board.

NWA is extremely nice.. But it's still 3 1/2 hours from any other established civilization not named Tulsa. Let's not act like the Midwest is loaded with talent and going to Texas from NWA isn't a fun drive. 5 1/2 hours from Dallas.
unless youa re driving a nascar there is no way you make it from NWA to dallas in 5 and a half hours. it takes 6 hours to get from little rock to dallas. take on another 2 to get to fayetteville. takes exactly 2 hours 5 mins for me to get from conway to fayetteville

I'll bite only because no one our board wanted to give me a response back to my comment on this topic a few days ago.

They play like every other game in the state of texas. Their presence never left there. We are just now getting back into Texas with games against multiple texas teams to bring exposure for the program back

The schools are only 3.5 hours apart, so don't give me that "they're closer to Texas" crap.

But they are. Norman isn't very far north of the Texas state line. NWA is about 5 1/2 hours from DFW.

So why Arkansas? Why can't you recruit a top 10 recruiting class?

The state doesn't produce much talent. Arkansas is one of the least populated states in the SEC. Little Rock doesn't produce the blue chip talent that it used to. The school systems are peckered beyond belief. Tulsa metro is closer to NWA than Little Rock is.

Even Oregon in the middle of nowhere can get guys nationwide.

Oregon doesn't pull great recruiting classes. They're currently 34th in the nation.
2015: 16th
2014: 21st
2013: 19th

They aren't exactly lighting the world on fire recruiting either. Very similar classes to Arkansas. Oregon just happens to play in the Pac 12 and not the SEC West.

They're right outside Georgia. Again, a much larger recruiting base than what Arkansas has at its disposal.

to pour salt in the wound, Switzer is an Arkansas grad.. and was an assistant at arkansas.

i'm going to keep it 100. this is why we never made it to the next level. we always chose B instead of A. We chose Hatfield instead of Switzer and Johnson. WE chose Nutt instead of Butch Davis. Then when we make the right fricking hire, we fire him for having a dick.

we really don't deserve to be any better than we based on the decisions we've made. basketball is a different story

25,000 high schools in TX, iirc. Seems like Arky should be able to at least pull raw o-line and d-line talent they can develop out of TX. Maybe Bert needs to spend less time eating, golfing and doing reality tv and spend more time recruiting?

I'm young but from my understanding Hatfield was good, but was tired of Frank's meddling right?

That's not the way you go to get from Dallas to Fayetteville.

The main reason Arkansas doesn't recruit well is simple; the state doesn't produce a lot of Division 1 talent. It's a low population state and the high school system just isn't very good. That means you have to recruit out of state but your surrounded by bigger and better schools.

You drive very slow or take awful routes. Why would you go from Fayetteville to LR to Dallas?

It is a BRUTAL drive through Oklahoma to to Fayetteville from Dallas...Those small towns in Oklahoma blow.

I am an Arkansas alumni living in Dallas. I stopped 3 times from Dallas to Fayetteville for the Ole Miss game and made it in exactly 5 hours. Yes, I drove 75-80 the entire way as well.

Dallas to LR is not 6 freaking hours. It's 6 hours from Dallas to Memphis and that's going through LR. It.s about 4-4.5 hours to LR from Dallas.

The only school in the SEC with different academic standards for football than the other schools is Vandy. And there isn't a player on Auburn's roster that Arky wouldn't have offered if there would have been a chance.
