Possible, I'm actually very interested to see how all of these coaching changes develop. One of the craziest years in regards to coaching changes I've ever seen and it really hasn't even started yet.

I would rather live in Miami, compete against Florida State, Clemson and Va. Tech with a somewhat reasonable fan base(hell, I feel if Shannon would have won the last game, he might have survived) versus a school like Florida or LSU for that matter, that if you don't win a national championship every other year, your fanbase is grumbling and you can be shown the door......

With an attitude like that, you would never become an elite coach in the first place, so Florida would not be considering you for a job. The people who become really good in coaching are the crazy people who have an intense desire to be at the very top of their profession, not those who just want to coast.

Why did Corch leave Utah to coach at Florida? I'm sure it would have been easier dominating the Mountain West or whichever conference they were in at the time. Why did Nick Saban leave the comfort of Michigan State to come to LSU? Why did he leave he leave his kingdom in Baton Rouge to coach in the NFL, which is far more cut throat than college? Why did he then go to Bama, one of the most rabid fan bases in college football?

These coaches have a different mindset from you or me. They crave the challenge. They have a desire for excellence and to reach the pinnacle of their sport. If Petersen comes to the realization that Boise can never win it all, I wouldn't be surprised if he were to start entertaining job offers. TCU is finally joining a "legit" conference. As for Miami having an easier path than Florida, is that really true? The SEC East was pretty weak this year.

These coaches that you referenced made the decision they made after weighing all pros and cons....but you are comparing apples and oranges.....Utah to Florida.....Mich St to LSU.....those were stepping stone jobs....we are talking about deciding between Florida and Miami and coaches that already have good jobs.......Sure these coaches are motivated by competition but they have also learned from their comrades that all that glitters is not gold.....If Saban had to do it all over again, would he had left LSU for the NFL? No....Same for the old ball coach.....To say that this new age coach is different from me or you is incorrect. I have drive and ambition just like they do.....I just feel that they truly understand the end game..... it's a job.....and if you can have a job that pays you 2 mill a year and you are successful and you can stay as long as you want, that is better than a job that pays you 3.5 mill and if you perform in the same manner as you previously did, it can get you run out of town in 3 years....I just fell this new era of coach places a higher value on quality of life.
