Other than the big run at "The U" and a few years of Larry Coker they haven't been relevant. Before Howard Schnellenberger showed up Miami was pitiful at football. There was talk of actually canning the program.

How big is Miami's stadium? Have they won anything as of late? Who is Miami's star player? Hasn't it been 10 years since they were pipelining players into the NFL?

Also look at the last time UF had a losing season. Bama, Auburn, UGA, UT, LSU have all had multiple losing seasons since UF has. Hint start looking in the 70's.

You have to ignore third and dumbest. He thinks we didn't sell out prior to SOS. He also thinks SOS arrived in 1989.

He also thinks Miami is a much better school.

He's the board's resident hater of all things Gator.

Just look at Miami's stadium during a game. Their fan support just plain sucks.
Florida is a better school, with better booster support, better facilities. Plus you don't have locals on your back at Gainesville like you get in Miami. They get a lot of local kids, which brings you a lot of problems.

I would say Miami is the better job, right now. They have talent also and they play in the ACC. Florida has talent, but that talent wasn't clicking this year and likely won't click next year. Not to mention they're in the SEC which is obviously much more difficult to win in

So why isn't their HC job as desirable as the Gators job?

Because no coach wants to raise his family in a mangy butthole of a city.

Sorry, Miami people. Your city is a massive shithole. It's what Little Rock would look like if the far south east portion took over the rest of the town (with palm trees, of course).

Your opinion is wrong. We've come to expect that though from some of you hillfolk. Brushing your tooth with moonshine seems to kill many brain cells.

If you watch a Miami game on TV when they aren't playing UF or FSU they never show the full stadium.

There is a reason for this. The stadium is freaking empty.

The "U" doesn’t even have a stadium to call their own.

1) Facilities

2) Fanbase

3) Conference

For starters...

Raodgator, thanks for the reasonable response.

It's a fact, Miami is a easier place to win. The ACC is a cake walk compared to the SEC.

Doesn't this say all that needs to be said about the current state of their program. I didn't know this even existed anymore. Welcome to El Paso, U.

Um, no. And before you start trotting out U.S. News and World report rankings, which are mostly just eye candy for freshmen and people who don't actually see what universities actually do in a research capacity, here are some facts.

We are an AAU institution. Miami is not. We are a Research 1 institution. Miami is not. We are a land, sea, and space grant institution. Miami is none of those. We also bring in twice as much in endowments and grants.

I'm sure you can make arguments as to which school provides a better undergraduate education, but saying Miami is a "MUCH" better school is a bit of a leap. As far as the research end of things, there is no comparison. Miami isn't a bad school by any stretch, but we have better research affiliations and more money at the end of the day.

I'll use myself and an anecdote. The doctoral program in which I am at UF is sixth in the nation as ranked by one of the top peer reviewed journals in the field. The same program at Miami is 77th, and it is a pretty common and large discipline nationwide. This is more than likely one of the larger disparities between the two schools, but still, Miami is "MUCH" better? There is no empirical way to support that claim. However, even knowing the ins and outs, I wouldn't actually claim Florida is a "MUCH" better institution than Miami despite knowing how robust the research agendas are here verses other universities. We have different missions to some degree, but they don't generate near the research we do.

I was at a football conversation earlier and a quiz bowl broke out.

If you say so....I know if I won the lottery this weekend and I have choice to raise my family in the Miami area versus the Gainsville area, I'm choosing Miami...... I would choose south Florida over the panhandle any day

Miami had their glory years but will never be dominant like they once were.
Should the university be serious about returning to football on a premiere level, this quote is complete and total bullshite.

Miami is a brand second to none, and if they were to find the right coach, they'd be set again.

The exponential growth of thugs certainly bodes well too.

No problem.

You should reply with something including jorts for future reference.

In all seriousness, which school do you think is pissed off the most that UF has a HC job up for grabs? You guessed it...Miami. This should tell you all you need to know.

If it is so much easier to win the ACC at Miami than the SEC at UF then why haven't they done it?

The reason they haven't is simple. His name is Meyer and the other is Shannon.

But going forward, between the two schools, Miami obviously has the easier path.

Jorts.
