If Henry doesn't win the heisman, many wives will be beat.

Naw. I would like for Henry to win, but can't argue if McCaffrey wins. These are the only two worthy to me.

It is a below average OL. Fact.

It's below average for an Alabama offensive line, for sure.

You guys still control the ball for 35+ minutes a game and dominate teams in the 2nd half. And running the ball 40-50 times is going to tire out defensive lines a lot more than your offensive line. That's just the nature of the trenches.

That's one of the reason Henry has more yards in the 2nd half this season. And that's including more than a couple games against scrub teams where he didn't play much or at all in the 2nd half.

It's not personnel for LSU. It's scheme and lack of a passing game. Also, the defense was not very good until really TAMU. OL for LSU looked good until Bama.

It's not horseshite bad, but calling it anything but just good would be too much. They're just...good. And sometimes they're really bad. Does Alabama still lead the country in negative plays? Part of Henry's ypc being so low is because of negative plays. Poor runs used to be 2 or 3 yard gains behind past Alabama lines. This year they're 4 yard losses.

So.....

Henry is 1st team because he sucks.
fournette is 2nd team because he is better.

Got it.

My friend thanks all of you for your input.

Maybe. I remember there being some debate about like some crazy number of first round locks in the Front 7. It just sounded dumb because DL seems deep this year. I'm not a guru but check to see what mock drafts tell me to regurgitate every week. A'Shawn has been a monster and I wouldn't be upset at all if the Saints took him, unless they took him over Treadwell.

BTW I think your downvote was me accidentally. On my phone.

Nah Henry had the better season no doubt

But he also had 2 extra games and 60 something more carries

He's also on a significantly better team with a coach who knows how to utilize the talent he has

I wish I could say all things were equal, trust me

There is no way a line with Ryan Kelly and Cam Robinson is below average. Maybe it's below average relative to last 5 years of Bama, so the narrative about Henry = Richardson is misplaced, but in no way is it a below average line. We just have too much information to override the prevailing view that Bama's OL is at least pretty good.

You also said Henry would not even be invited to the Heisman ceremony.

244 yards against Syracuse. 233 yards against Eastern Michigan. 150 yards against WKU.

Take a look at what both backs did against the best defense they played not named 'Bama.
LF went for 180 on 31 carries with a couple of T.D.'s and had to break a lot of tackles because that game came after the two big blocker injuries. Henry gained 189 on 44 carries. Both great efforts against a very good defense. Two outstanding backs.

I was pissed after the game dude and didn't realize how big of a deal it was. He went from someone distantly behind Fournette in Vegas odds (like 5th if I remember correctly) to first that Monday. Good God man.

I just went back and looked. He wasn't even Top Ten in Vegas preseason and had a decent but not awe inspiring first half of the season. The debate on here was always Chubb vs. Fournette.

I think we lead the SEC in negative plays because of the OL. Yeah, their great though.

Football Outsiders basically has them graded as a Top 25ish run blocking line but yeah they're terrible.

I don't doubt they do. What about pass blocking.

I would like to see that though. You got a link?

Ok, we will see who is drafted higher then. I think we both know Fournette will be, barring injury.

This will tell us nothing since they come out in different years and the landscape of the teams and team needs will be different from year to year. The only way to use the draft as any type of measuring stick is for players entering it in the same season.

It's ok to admit that Derrick Henry is better than decent. Why do so many of you struggle with this. LF is unbelievablely fantastic. There, see how easy that was?

Compared to the recent crop of RBs the SEC has had lately? I'd call him decent. Guys like Jeremy Hill, Richardson, Fournette, Ingram, Lacy, Darren McFadden, Chubb, Gurley, Moreno, Knile Davis.. and I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting. I just couldn't rank him in the top tier and he'd be fighting for a spot in that second tier.

I think he's the perfect compliment to the Alabama offense under Kiffin though. A finesse offense with a RB who will run you the frick over if you get him the ball with a bit of space to run.. I like the synergy.

Then football outsiders are just idiots. Anyone with half a brain can look at our line and tell that they are lacking. The zone blocking scheme we run is inferior and we have some boneheaded tards playing the positions.

Cam Robinson is going to have to get his act in gear because I have watched far too many folks run right by him this year and cause negative plays.
