He was a serous candidate, but do not believe he was officially offered. Surprised he was not a candidate for jobs this year, such as Vandy. .

I think he's happy where he's at right now.His salary is 1 million+.He's a fairly young guy.

He's got plenty of time to be a HC.

I may be wrong but I think he's likes where he's at for the time being.

Maybe you should take some time off... You seem stressed...

I'm sure he's comfortable where he's at, but as of salary it would be tripled with a HC position and the two positions he's holding out for are not likely to hire a DC with no HCing experience... It would almost be beneficial for him to go to a lower tier college and coach them up. If he was successful then there would be a greater chance of him landing one of his dream jobs...

He WILL be the next coach for UGA mark that down. Kirby is waiting for Richt to retire and word is he will retire in the next 3 years. UGA is Kirby's dream job.

This is worth asking.

Jimbo left LSU and won the BCSNC as head coach at FSU.

I can't see this... I think he hurt his chances not taking the DC job...

At 1.5 million as a DC, I don't think I would be in a hurry to move on either.

When UGA offered Kirby the DC job in 2010 he didn't take it since it will be a lateral move. UGA understands that it was just business on his part.

When Tod Grantham left in January 2014, Kirby wasn't even interviewed according to reports:

Kirby didn't necessarily burn any bridges. UGA knows that Kirby will only move for a head coach position and nothing else.

But do they take the risk of hiring someone with no HC experience?

Saban gave him the "We're done when I saw we're done" and he went fetal and obliged him.

That is true he doesn't have any HC experience. It would be good if he went to a smaller school. There are some very successful HC without previous HC experience like Jimbo (OC) Fisher and Bob Stoops (DC). Both of these guys have won assistant coach of the year award when before the took head coaching jobs. Kirby has won many awards including 09' Frank Broyles award and 2012 coach of the year. He has been working under Saban for many years (2004, 2007-2013). I really think he will make a fine HC someday. He is just waiting for the right place to make the jump. I hope that place is Georgia.

Richt didn't have any head coaching experience did he?

Say what you want, but he's done a pretty good job at UGA imo.

too bad it has been 8 years since his last SEC title. For frame of reference, his last SECCG win was against Les Miles in his first year at LSU.

Uh, not based on the way we basically told him to piss off when he said he'd come to UGA if they gave him some kind of HCIW tag. I don't think UGA has much interest in Kirby. Bobo seems to be the ex-player that will have the most clout built up out of him, Muschamp, and Kirby.

Given that Richt himself said he'd like to coach for another 20 year (until he is 80), I don't see that happening like we thought earlier this year. Dude actually did look a lot better on NSD now that he doesn't have to deal with Grantham's headache anymore.
