Well I'm sorry then. There has just been so much unsubstantiated bullshite throughout this thread.

Yes there has, but there has been some blind homerism as well. The truth lies in the middle ground.

That's why I just wanted to drop the argument. I knew my opinion was going to be taken as a flame. I DGAS about Bama's academics necessarily, but it was a topic being discussed that I had some knowledge about.

UA Law is kind of hard to get into. Last I checked they had a median LSAT of 165ish, which is like 90th percentile. They used to have an easy entrance pathway for UA undergrads in honors, but I think they took that away. That's cool that they were throwing money your way.

Aren't their scholarships for law school only for the first year

Guaranteed, yes.

then you have to be top ~10% or something to maintain it?

It varies depending on how badly they want you.

Alabamas law school doesn't have to throw money to get good students

Notice the uptick in Bama's law school perception over the last decade. That wasn't due to the football team, greek life or the campus. And it wasn't that the law school suddenly started working 20 hour days to improve it.

I really think you have some sort of mental disorder.

I respectfully disagree with this, but I'm not trying to get into a giant argument about that, so we can move past it.

If you consider rational thought a disorder, then yes.

And I have a family member that is the Collegiate Counselor for a very prominent HS in Texas. One that Bama has been pushing their efforts at very hard with in the last 2-3 years from their students that fall within the top 10-30% of their graduating class.

I've heard (I don't know if there's much truth to it), that they put most of the scholarship students in the same section, and because many have the "you must remain in the top X%" requirement to retain it, and the curve, it guarantee's that many will lose their scholarships.

Thanks.

My undergrad GPA was below average. I'm not even sure what the average was, but I can pretty much guarantee it was below average for any top 50 law school. I just busted my arse for months on the LSAT. It's a very "learnable" test if you're willing to put the time in.

for some reason up here in northern Virginia, Bama has become the "it" school for a lot of students. We have one of the top three school districts in the county and I mean we could fill up UVa with kids just from my county. EVERY high school here is listed in the top 3% in the country. Brutal for these amazing students. Anyway, I laughed when I heard from parents that now Bama is popular and an easy in.

It's a money thing. They've made it known that if you are a National Merit Semifinalist you get auto admit and scholarship.

That was one of the reasons I chose to go elsewhere. UGA was always my 1st choice (home state, went to undergrad there, etc.) unless I got into Vandy. Bama threw more than enough $$$ at me to make it interesting. I was honestly set on going to Bama at one point and decided to stick with a significantly lower scholarship offer from UGA. The day after I paid my deposit to UGA, Vandy sends me a "you've been wait listed" letter that asked for a letter of continued interest. Would have been extremely expensive to go there had I been admitted, and I probably wouldn't have been admitted anyway.

Like I said, I'm not positive about undergrad, but I know for a fact this isn't the case in grad school. They are throwing scholarship money at people and it's gobs of it. And kudos to them for being financially prepared enough to do that.
That depends on the department. In the sciences, that is true because they are either research or teaching positions, but that is not true of the business college.
