Ole Miss grads are like the elusive sasquatch. You hear the campfire stories and tales, but hardly anyone as ever laid eyes on one.

That actually isn't the deal. More than 62 percent of students at Ole Miss are from Mississippi.
If you count every student including many of those that take a course or two from the satellite campuses in Booneville, Southaven, Tupelo, Grenada, etc. then you can arrive at this number. If you count only the Oxford campus which then the number is VERY different. I know for a fact the the undergraduate enrollment on the Oxford campus, is majority out of state or very close to it. Ole Miss' freshman always has the highest % of out of state students in the SEC except for Vanderbilt.

You are right. Its not as big as one might think. MSU owns Rankin County and is probably close to Ole Miss in Madison.
Both OUR counties.

The other 45% of Ole Miss students are drawn largely from Mississippi's elite. Yes, Mississippi is a poor state, even by Southern standards, but its doctors make as much as doctors anywhere, it has its share of old money and agricultural wealth (especially in the Delta), and, as is the case with any state, there is a small percentage of the population who are quite well-off......and almost all these people send their offspring to Ole Miss.
This is certainly all anecdotal and it certainly may have changed by now, but I remember our Sociology professor telling our class that 95% of all Mississippi families who made over $150k sent their kids to Ole Miss (if they didn't go out of state). This was in the late 1980's.

I went as poor student. Graduated as an even poorer student. I'm proud to have a degree from the University of Mississippi, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have chosen a different route. Being in $60k student loan debt has killed my post college life so far. Can't find a job that I went to school for.

That's a chart for who has more flare. Y'all are into that sort of thing. Ole Miss mostly isn't.

Why Does Everyone Think Ole Miss Fans Are Rich?
Because you touch yourself at night. Also because you're poor and only plebs ask questions such as this.

Flare??? As in signal guns?
Or did you really mean "flair" as in style or bling?

Yes flair as in "Tommy has 37 pieces of flair"

Mississippi. Rich. Does not compute.

One reason for that might be that Ole Miss does not have the "blue-collar" following in Mississippi that most SEC teams have in their states (which Alabama is most famous for, although it applies to most SEC schools).
most every Ole Miss "fan" I know who didn't attend OM is a fan because they hate black people. And they are very "blue collar". You have come on here with every stereotypical OM response I can think of. Even when faced with cold hard facts you elitist pricks still can't come to grips with the fact that your pretentiousness oozes out of every pour.

Couple of thoughts: I thought Ole Miss was a private school till I was in my 30's.
I recently asked a buddy of mine. "What is the deal with so many LSU alums' kids going to Ole Miss"? His reply: "They cannot get into LSU"
