True, it would be.

But it's called "Clemsoning" for a reason.

Did Bear ever get 70 dropped on him in the bowl game?

It's a different Era but here's the thing. Johnny Majors left Pitt for Tennessee right after winning a national championship at Pitt because in his words, "When Mama calls, you come running."

It's worth noting that Johnny was walking into a very similar mess to what CBJ walked into as well. In contrast, a potential Dabo to Bama move would come after Saban not during a program's low points.

I've been told he doesn't want to come to Alabama.

I have heard the same things. I find it hard to believe, but maybe the man really like South Carolina and has put his roots in there. I heard a talking head point out that he was never an a coordinator. My attention was mostly elsewhere, but I believe he said he went from an assistant coach to head coach at Clemson. He could have developed a sense of loyalty to the school that gave him his biggest break. Maybe it is just business and public appearance and his plan is to negotiate a big contract. I have no idea what he wants, though I remember seeing him around campus a lot, I never knew him. History tells us when 'mama calls" he will change his mind.

I have no clue if Dabo would even want to come back to Alabama, but posts from message board posters who act like they think they know what boosters or trustees are thinking are always funny.

As well as message board posters who think elite college football coaches just put their thoughts like that out there. "I've been told..."

He was the assistant head coach. Sure, he may very well have said to the media at times that he loves Clemson and has no interest in leaving. All that means absolutely nothing when a specific top 3 job opens up at a school where you can make $3-4M more.

I have no idea if Dabo would go to Bama or not. Anyone who says they know based on what they say they heard from someone doesn't know anything.

Hell, Saban could stay for five more years, and no one knows yet who the top candidate will be then.

Dabo was the WRs coach and recruiting coordinator under Bowden, not the assistant head coach. Bowden recommended Dabo for the job when he resigned.

given Dabo was fired along with that head coach at Alabama, not sure why he would want to go back unless all he cares about it is more $$$$$.

That's what happens when the head coach is fired and the school doesn't hire from within. The new guy brings in his own staff.

i understand that but i personally would not want to go back to a place where I was fired. in Dabo's case, he would be leaving the university that gave him a head coaching job despite no head coach experience to go back to a school he was fired at. Alabama would have never made him head coach with no head coach experience.

Dabo has said that he had opportunity to go back to Alabama during the Bowden years at Clemson but he decided to stay at Clemson. so the 'mama calls' thing doesn't seem to be plausible.

You don't see the difference between being just another assistant and being the HC?

Coaches don't see it like that. They know it's just part of the job. He may not want to come back, but it won't be because he was let go because he worked for a terrible HC.

unless you are talking about money, and I assume Bama can pay more, i don't see how Alabama is a better place to coach than Clemson.

Well for him to be Clemson's bear Bryant, whatever that means, he'd have to have won at least 1 title. Unless you're saying he'd be your greatest coach of all time losing 2 titles. Which in that case would be a dream come true for you.

Dabo would be stupid to leave Clemson, He can make his own mark there.

Plus he would not be effective at Bama, Dabo does not cheat like Saban by telling his players to hold every play.

it is weird how bama fans are always thinking about who their next coach will be. lol you would think they had been struggling under Saban.
