re: Why do you think Alabama plays so well and is so hyped up against LSU?

still a second tier game behind Auburn and Tennessee
I thought we were a third tier game to Bama fans, right around Miss State and Arkansas?

I don't think anyone really denies it except for trolling. But no matter how good LSU is or can be, it's still a second tier game behind Auburn and Tennessee for the majority of the fanbase. Sorry, but it's true.
That's got nothing to do with their status as an program, though. LSU is one of the few SEC schools with the ability to break through and take it all in any given year. Bama, LSU, Florida, Georgia and Auburn in no real order (except for Bama obviously being on top right now) all have no ceiling and can be as good as any program in the country. Clearly that doesn't mean that they WILL have the best teams every year, but these are the programs with the best potential.
UGA is an interesting case, I think. Their talent level is consistently up there with the best of them but them never seem to live up to the potential. Some of it is just bad luck - many of their best years have been the same years that another SEC team just happens to be having a historically great season, leaving the Bulldogs as an extremely talented and extremely good second place SEC team. I don't think any other SEC program has had as much bad luck in that regard as Georgia has had.

One reason is that our guys know how much LSU wants this game and they know you guys have the talent to win. Both teams understand that this game is key to winning the division. I think LSU wants it more and honestly it is probably why a couple of the games were close. Like 2012 when Bama was quite a bit better but barely got out of there with a win thanks to boneheaded calls by Miles.
