How many QB ever really make it in the NFL? What is there 32 teams?

Well I guess 5 star Qb's could go to LSU and turn out like Perrilloux and Shepard.

Maybe more of a product of run oriented offenses back then.
On November 4, 1979, Terry Bradshaw threw for 311 yards against the Redskins.
It was the first time he ever threw for 300+ yards in a game.
It was the 10th year of his career. He had already won 3 Super Bowls and been a league and Super Bowl MVP.
9 1/2 seasons, and no 300 yard games. Even with Lynn Swann and John Stallworth to throw to.

I'm 4 pages late to this thread but the answer is winning. I respect Bama as a program but do not like them due to my LSU ties.
If I was a 5* QB, I would still be interested because of their success and abundance of talent at all other positions.

There have not been any. Phillip Sims was the highest rated QB we have signed in the era of modern recruiting sites. He was a four star. Brodie Croyle was rated very high, but he was always going to Alabama.
not true. Brodie was going to FSU until the last minute.

People are so freaking stupid when it comes to the NFL. There were 93 quarterbacks eligible for the draft AJ was the 9th QB drafted. That means he was in the top 10% of eligible college quarterbacks that year according to the NFL. When AJ came out of high school here were the pro style QBs ranked ahead of AJ
#1 Matt Barkley
#2 Garrett Gilbert
#3 Aaron Murray
#4 Tajh Boyd
#5 Bryn Renner
#6 Richard Brehaut
#7 AJ McCarron
Barkely and Murray were the only ones drafted higher than AJ. Renner and Brehaut were not even drafted. FURTHER, AJ predecessor, Greg McElroy, was a three star prospect out of high school and ended up being drafted by the Jets. Here are the QB rankings the year Greg was recruited.
#1 Matthew Stafford
#2 Mitch Mustain
#3 Isiah Williams
#4 Josh Freeman
#5 Pat Devlin
#6 Kevin Riley
#7 Neil Caudle
#8 Chris Smelley
#9 Zach Frazer
#10 Tyler Lyon
#11 Greg McElroy
How many of those guys were drafted ahead of McElroy? Freeman and Stafford? Plus Greg is going to have a nice long broadcasting career because he played at Bama. So the question is, why wouldn't you play at Bama?

One day a ranter is going to post "Hmm that is a good point. I didn't see it that way. Guess I was wrong." after posting something asinine. But today is not going to be that day.

WPI: You graduated early from Westbrook Christian High School in Rainbow City, Alabama - was it ever in doubt when you were in high school that you'd go to any other school but Alabama?
Croyle: Actually up until the night before I was set to go to Florida State. I was gung ho about going. I loved Mark Richt and I loved their offense. Alabama had just fired their coach and hired Dennis Franchioni, and I didn't think it would be a good fit for me. Then we caught wind that Mark Rick might be taking a job elsewhere so I decided "let's do it" and I committed to Alabama.

I think it is a legitimate argument to bring up. I wouldn't think Saban would ever turn a guy loose and throw it 40 times per game. It's just not his style. Therefore, with other powers that throw it more or run more of a spread, I could see recruits like Winston going there and not to Bama.
It doesn't diminish how good Bama has perennially been, it just speaks as to how certain recruits would look elsewhere even if they loved Bama/Saban.
So yes, I am sure it is used to recruit against them by certain programs

Andrew Luck ran a spread at Stanford right?

Hell, Jeff Rutledge lasted 14 years in the NFL. Outside of YA Tittle, has LSU had anyone last that long?

Are you just talking about QBs? If so you can make an argument, but if you are talking in general you are just a flaming moron.

Alabama has put a handful of big time QBs into the NFL throughout our history.
Bart Starr
Joe Namath
Kenny Stabler
Richard Todd
As late as the mid-90s, Alabama QBs had put up more yardage in the NFL than any other group of QBs from any other school. I doubt that's still the case but you never know.
