He would've built a dynasty at many schools, including LSU.

There's no telling who they would have had to resort to if Saban didn't fall into their laps. For all we know they could have hired another unimpressive coach like Franchione/Price/Dubose/Shula.

I don't know about falling into laps, but when Saban retires, it'll be nearly impossible to keep winnning at this level. I mean, it's never been done in the modern era. Notre Dame had a nearly as impressive run back in the 40s or whatever, but that was before all conferences were integrated.

I think Dabo will be the next coach, and I believe he will do good, but certainly not Saban good. Personally, I think Saban is the best ever, better even than Bryant, and I never thought that would be possible.

Alabama does have a long history, though, of great coaches. Wallace Wade was winning titles back in the 20s and 30s, then Frank Thomas (for whom Bryant played) after him. Those two pretty much created the winning tradition that Bryant continued and Saban now enjoys.

As for the original topic, I think Saban would have won multiple titles at LSU. I thank the lucky stars he wound up at Alabama. Just think, the ncaa probation and sanctions we endured kind of created the opportunity for it to happen. Thanks Fulmer, you phat piece of shite. Karma kicking that arse, eh? Roll Tide Roll.

I don't think Saban was going to stay there too long because it is a much more flashy type of town than is Tuscaloosa. There are flamboyant colors and funky threads all over in Louisiana. In TT, there is a more conservative fan base down there amongst the preppies wearing He-Man style haircuts and what not. More of Saban's speed.

I'm probably one of the only LSU fans that doesn't think he would have. There are a lot of fans that are still like lost puppies, hoping daddy will come home.

Dabo to Alabama depends largely on how long Saban stays at Alabama. If Dabo Swinney ends up having been at Clemson 15+ years at that point. Would he leave a program he's been at that long? I know he's an Alabama alum, but that could still very well be an issue down the road.

Championships are not won because of reputations. Times have changed.

This times 100^^^ . Because if reputations build champions then ND, Oklahoma and Nebraska would be winning every damn year. And Southern Cal and perhaps Texas. Past success will not be a guarantee for future success. Just as past failures will be no hindrance to one succeeding in the future.

With the current state of this league. He would have built a Dynasty at Tulane. He has many resources that other coaches are unable to obtain.

If they sign Bree's instead of Culpepper, then Bama and the Saints are probably screwed.

Wait...your troll is that your future first-ballot Hall of Fame coach couldn't have gotten better?

I can't wait for this election to be over. It's making everyone talk nonsense.

Saban had not yet been to the pros. Every year at recruting time other teams used that against us. Bama has never had that used against them. Huge advantage. No one has ever believed he would leave for another school esp after he got things going.

bama was desperate and willing to go all in with saban. lsu wasnt to that point yet. I bet he could build a dynasty there now. those mf'ers would sacrifice children to a saban statue for a couple titles now. saban and bama have done a total mind frick on lsu.

huh? LSU made Saban the highest paid coach in college football history at that point. They definitely went all in on Saban. Saban, unfortunately at the time, had NFL aspirations and there was nothing LSU could do about it.
