What points did I fail to acknowledge? I didn't claim my opinion as fact, simply that it is indeed an opinion... as is every other comment in this thread. lsuchs' and I have managed to have a reasonable discourse about it without resorting to name calling and the like... I suppose that's a lot to ask from more than one of you though?

Because our defense isn't really either.

Th switch to a 3-4 and this last recruiting class really helped out death. Being able to bolster the LB position with what were the tweeter DE.OLB types has really helped.

And remember, a 1 gap 3-4 doesn't need the same size DL as a 2 gap 3-4.

And remember, that same Ohio State team hung 42 on Alabama's defense with all your five stars. Dave Aranda is a genius not a magician.

Yep

Front 7 in base D went from:

2015
DE: Key 230
DT: Godchaux 290
DT: Lacoutre 295
DE: Neal 260
OLB: jones. 225
MLB: beckwith. 252
Nickel: 200

=1,750 lbs

2016
OLB: bower. 260
DE: Neal. 260+
MLB: beckwith. 252
DT: Lacoutre. 295+
MLB: white. 260
DE: Godchaux. 290
OLB: key. 240

=1,850+ lbs

Almost 1,900 lbs when Herron or Lawrence/Alexander/Logan play for Neal

Because we do?

Seriously though I'm quite confident that we'll at least get to the playoff. (Iunderstandthatdoesntmeanshit)

Better question if you're so confident LSU will suck why did you bother making this thread?

I think LSU will beat Ole Miss at home this year. I may change my tune if injuries or suspensions happen. But I figure it will be 10-2, losses to bama and arky.

I like the Aranda hire, but I can't sit here and say there won't be some growing pains. But I'm hoping his D will match up better with bama and arky. Teams that run power LSU struggled with under chavis. He liked to use tweeners. Nothing like having a safety playing Mike linebacker for you and tackling your own teammates.

I love one gap 3-4 defense. Wish Oregon had gone that direction instead of scrapping the scheme all together. It will be interesting to see how Aranda does.

As for having a national championship team, jury is out until qb play improves. It's practically impossible in today's game to win it all and be mediocre there.

LSU didn't win, but they beat everyone they played and won the sec Championship with mediocre to poor qb play.

You have a HC and OC that you don't want, a DC that had 59 points hung on him in his last championship game, a meh QB, an O-line that melts against real competition, and a light D. Fournette can't win it by himself.

He had one bad game.. where Wisonsin was clearly outmatched and the offense turned the ball over 4 times..

Want to know something cool?

That same National Championship Ohio St team hung 42 points are well over 500+ yards on your precious Nick Saban D..

So I think we can dismiss that one bad game.. considering the world's greatest got his arse handed to him by that same OSU team and you have all the talent in the world. You have no reason to bring that game up.

So STFU dumbass.

Btw, Aranda's last game was holding USC to 21 in a bowl victory.

Why would we not be confident?

Lots of opposing fans give LSU fans shite for having confidence in upcoming seasons. Almost like it's unheard of. Kinda strange.

You didn't just ask a question.

and again, it isn't exactly LSU fans that are the confident ones. The media is probably confident in them because of veteranship.. and LSU fans are excited because of the new coaching hires.. There's nothing wrong with excitement and optimism.

LSU finally doesn't have a first year starting quarterback as well. That, along with the return of talent we aren't use to returning.. should help tremendous towards to season.

I don't have a problem with you or anyone being skeptical. Until Les wins in November again, you have that right. You don't have to be over-the-top bias and ridiculous about it though like you are being. LSU is very capable of beating Arkansas and Ole Miss. They have done so in recent years and like I said, finally have a veteran team. Now Alabama, who knows, but at least they are getting Alabama at home and Alabama did lose a ton of defensive players. Of course Alabama will always be tough.
