what about 2013 Clowney?

I think 2013 Clowney will have a LT and TE on him all night as well as a HB on his side protecting the QB. I honestly don't believe he will have nearly as dominant of a year as people expect. Not for lack of talent, but because USCe does not have enough talent around him to protect him from double and triple teams. He will be a top 5 NFL defensive player within 2 years though.

You should investigate Kelcy Quarles and Chaz Sutton. Clowney is not the only great player on SCars d-line

If I could be guaranteed that Fairley would play like he did in 2010 and not the average Fairley we have seen before that and afterwards in the NFL, I would take 2010 Fairley over 2012 Clowney.

To be fair he's had injury issues the past 2 years but all off season reports thus far have stated that he may be looking at a Pro-Bowl type 2013 season.

Fairley, not really a difficult decision.

Fairley. That dude took over games. Clowney is special though.

Unless clowney has a DT type year, then he will have been severely overhyped and nowhere near the legend status others have acquired over their career

Would rather have a great defensive end than a great defensive tackle.

Haven't read the entire thread, but this is easily the dumbest shite I've seen posted yet. What part of the field is the ball snapped from? You can run away from a DE. A dominant DT can make average DE's look very good.

The choice is though but Fairley carried our defense when we needed stops. So with some bias, I'd pick him

Aren't you the same guy that just made a thread bashing Alabama player's for under-performing in the NFL, and now you come in here defending Fairley's average NFL career, despite getting single teamed right next to the best DT in the NFL?

For our team Fairley no doubt. We are loaded as heck at DE right now.

I think Peria Jerry in 2008 was just as disruptive as Fairley was in 2010.

For posters thy actually know football, this is an easy choice. It's harder to generate a good pass rush up the middle than it is on the edges. Not on did Fairly generate that pass rush, he also excelled at stopping the run. That 2010 Auburn defense wasn't great, but they did three of the most important things you can do on defense. They stopped the run, generated a pass rush up the middle , and they got off the field on 3rd down.

What? Glen Dorsey was a better collegiate DT.

Nah. 2013 Clowney might be the best football player at any level.

Congrats, this is one of the dumbest statements I've seen on the SECRant in a while.
If Clowney is the best football player at any level, how the hell did freshmen on LSU's oline ,shut him the frick down?
